My heart beat retarded, and my eyelids struggled to stay up. Through my blurred vision, I saw a small brown blur inching close to me. I could tell it was my pet mole, Boota, and so I slowly held up my hand for him to rub his small head against.
Memories of my long life reoccurred to me quickly as I felt it coming to an end. Aniki staring down at me proudly, oblivious to my futility, his body falling over lifeless on the controls of Gurren Lagann, finding Nia in a small box, spending so much time with her for seven years, proposing to her, saving her from the Anti Spiral, marrying her, her fading away in my arms, it was all playing out like a movie.
A whimper came the mole as he buried his tiny black nose into my palm, causing a small smile to work its way onto my wrinkled face.
"Goodbye... Boota," I moaned.
My eyes closed completely. The last thing I heard before my heartbeat completely stopped was another whimper from the mole.
I opened my eyes. I appeared to be in a room with nothing but white walls and ceilings, and I appeared to be floating. My black eyes looked around, finding nothing but emptiness.
Warmth suddenly embraced both of my hands. I looked forward, and felt my jaw drop and my eye brows stretch.
My older brother, Kamina, was giving me a proud and teasing smirk as he held my right hand. My wife, Nia, wore a loving and joyful expression on her face as she held my left hand.
"Hi, Simon," my wife said.
The smile on my face widened as several streams of joy ran down my cheeks.
"Nia! Kamina!"
The blue haired jock chuckled and waved his finger.
"Simon, I told you. Don't call me Kamina, call me aniki."
"Come on, honey," the angel-haired beauty said, "it's time for you to come home."
"You mean," I choked, "w-we can all live together...?"
Nia nodded happily. More tears made their way out of my eyes as my smile grew. Their grips around my hands tightened.
"Ah, gee, you managed to get this babe to marry you?" Kamina chuckled. "What were you two doing while I was dead?"
My cheeks reddened.
"N-nothing!"
They turned around, but kept their eyes on me.
"It's time to go home now," Nia said gently.
My tears stopped, and my smile deepened. This was exactly what I had wanted ever since I met Nia.
And so, I left the world of the living to live with my wife and aniki forever.
