Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, anything Harry Potter related, I do own Brittney and her story and the plot of this story however.

Prelude-Brittney is an orphan she has never known any family or even any of the wizarding world. She is naïve. Now enjoy.

Chapter 1

Brittney stared at her trunk she could not make herself move she just sat there. So much had changed this year so much. She could hear people calling for their friends and their family. She was stiff and unmoving. How could he die and just after what he had told her. It hadn't helped that she had had a very weird year at Hogwarts this year and the whole world had seemed dark with no prospect of hope. He-who-must-not-be-named had been proven to be back. And the whole wizarding world was in a full panic. She thought back on what had happened this year.

Brittney opened her eyes the white of her sheets and lacey coverlet filled her vision. She was in that place that was somewhere just beyond sleep. She was awake and yet not awake. Slowly she sat up and looked around now she remembered where she was. She had moved last night from the orphage where she had grown up and lived all her life. She had been adopted officially last night by some old man. She sighed he had brought her a huge castle filled with weird things he said that she was a witch and that had been the last thing that she remembered for she had passed out.

Now she looked about her. The room was a tower room in lacey white. A white fluffy rug was on the side of the 4-poster bed in which she now laid on. There were 3 windows on the other side of the room. The bed was in the middle of the room. There was a big wooden wardrobe across from the windows. The door was across from her bed. Her trunk was at the foot of her bed. Someone must have brought it up while the old man had talked to her.

She thought the old man's name had been Mr.Dumblydorey for something of that nature but she wasn't quite sure. But all in all she was grateful to him. He had made her feel like a princess by being so kind.

The stretched and pulled herself from the warmth of her covers. Sunlight shined on her bed in gentle rays. She walked over to a mirror which was fastened on the wall and looked at it. The sun gleamed on her long blonde hair and her grey blue eyes for once were shining with happiness, at least for the most part. Her pale skin made her same little sick looking but not that much. She jumped in surprise as she realized that she was wearing a nightgown. Someone must have changed her clothes after she had passed out. She blushed and hoped it had been one of the female servants she had seen running around.

With these thoughts she turned and headed onto the daily task of making herself presentable for the day.
