It was a cold winter morning on the east coast. The dark saturated clouds above promised snow. Jello was lounging lazily by the fire in his pokemon fursuit, surrounded by his dakis and dozens of pokeplush toys.
Bias stumbled out of the bedroom, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Oh, you're already awake, Jello-kun?" he mumbled tiredly. He was still worn out from their fun the night before. "I've been waiting for you, senpai." Jello replied in a sultry voice. Bias cuddled up next to Jello and looked around at the pokeplushes when he noticed a Murkrow doll.
Suddenly Bias recalled a memory. There once was a crow named Dandy in the town of Saman. Dandy spent his days cawwing and suckering people out of their money. It was one of those days when Bias and Dandy met.
"Caww! More easy prey stoppin by, I see. Everything you see is 50G. You interested in anything?" Bias handed over 50G, interested in what this talking bird might have to sell. "Whadaya want?" Dandy called. As it turned out Dandy was something of a cawn artist. Buying from him was a gamble, and Bias... had a gambling problem. Bias giggled with glee as he spent half of his hard earned money. "This one. Now that one. This one again. The other one. Which one? That one. This one." And so on.
Years later Bias comes back to Saman, driven from all settlements along the way for failing to pay his debts. Bias has naught but 50G in his pockets. And then he remembers Dandy. Bias returns the the stall Dandy had made his perch all those years ago. As Bias approaches Dandy starts to give his same old greeting. "Caww-" Dandy is interrupted by a coughing fit. Time has taken its toll on the old bird. His feathers look ruffled, and his beak is cracked. "More easy prey stopping by? I can't see..." Even his sight has been stolen by the cruelty of time. "Everything is 50G, you interested?" Bias can't help himself, he's got an itch that only a game of chance can scratch. He places his last 50G on the counter next to the bird. "This one." Bias replies to the crow's proverbial call of "Whadaya want?" As the bird goes to get Bias' prize Bias looks over and realizes that the crow has nothing to give him. "Damn thieves, stealing from the blind..." Bias hears Dandy mutter under his breath. As time ravaged Dandy, it seemed so did the town people. Bias quietly walks away from the counter, taking his money with him.
The next morning Bias leaves some food on the counter for Dandy and watches from the distance. But the crow never shows up to his stall. Concerned, Bias goes to look for Dandy. Behind his stall, Bias finds Dandy's nest.
Dandy had hung himself.
He had died alone and with nothing, and with his final customer walking away from him.
