A/N: This is yet another "Chimera" piece, I really liked that episode, this one serves as another ending…sort of like an alternate in a way, and personally I like it better than Significant Other. Tell me what you think. But for now sit back, relax, and eat your non-American unbuttered popcorn. (lol)

Companion Piece Two: Chimera: I Hear She Was Pretty

MPOV
"What was the worst part?" I ask, and she sighs.
We sit hip to hip cuddled on her couch. My arm lays loosely around her shoulders and she buries her face in my side.
"The cold or the hunger?" I rephrase as I drag the blanket further up around her, and my fingers through her hair.
"Neither." she sighs and my eyebrows raise.
"It was the loneliness."
I suddenly understand all the phone calls, even the pointless ones, and the fact that she wanted to hear my voice just as much as I did hers. She mistakes my silence and adds 'the cold too' as she snuggles deeper into my side. I rub some random design on her shoulder and she seems to calm.
"Was Ellen accommodating? I hear she was pretty."
I hear the slight tone of jealousy that colors her tone. She's different here, less secure, than when we're in the office. It knocks me off guard sometimes but I still love her all the same.
"Not as pretty as you." I assure and my hand… the one attached to the arm around her shoulders smoothes her hair.
"I missed you too, I wont let even Skinner make me leave you again."
She smiles and I kiss her forehead. She seems content wrapped up in my arms, on her cramped couch, coffee table still littered with Styrofoam dishes, the TV on mute, but despite the mess and the oddity normality brings she seems content and so am I.
A/N: So what did you think?
