DM Whatever's The Matter?
''Yes, that's fine' Lucy was saying into her phone, 'No it'll be alright''. Agnes came into the kitchen to get herself a drink just as Lucy said goodbye. ''Is something wrong?'' Agnes asked. ''No nothing is wrong sweetie'' Lucy smiled. But Agnes wasn't convinced.
She sipped her drink wondering what was going on. As dawn was breaking the next morning, Agnes woke to go to the bathroom, She walked very quietly so as not to wake her two older sisters Margo and Edith. On her way to the bathroom, she heard her parents talking in their room.
''Agnes won't want to go, there're be an awful fuss'' Gru was saying. ''Gru don't worry, we'll tell her when the time comes near'' Lucy said. ''They're talking about me' Agnes thought, 'they're sending me away''.
Later that day, Agnes thought about her adoptive father's words. Where wouldn't she want to go, and why was she being sent?. Her heart started to beat hard, and she felt a bit sick. What had she done wrong. Was she going to be sent back to Miss Hattie's once and for all?.
Agnes watched her parents for a long time, she even helped with the cleaning, but that afternoon her head had started to ache too. At teatime Agnes couldn't eat. Her headache was worse and she wanted to cry.
She sat on her bed waiting for it to happen. Just then Gru came in. ''Hey Agnes what's wrong?'' he asked. Agnes burst into tears. ''You're sending me back to Miss Hattie's!' she exploded, 'I heard you''.
Gru sat down next to her and hugged her tightly. ''I would never send you back Agnes, I'm sorry if you heard it like that''. Agnes listened as he continued. ''You will be going into hospital next week, You're be staying in for several days, the doctors will do some tests on you, Lucy will be staying with you''.
''Who'll look after Margo and Edith?'' Agnes asked. ''Grandma's coming to help' Gru answered, 'It's all sorted''. ''Will Lucy be with me all the time?'' Agnes asked. ''Yes she will' Gru smiled, 'and Agnes would it help if you visited the hospital before you go, and learned where everything is?''. Agnes nodded.
At last the day came for Agnes to go into hospital. She packed a wash bag, pyjamas, 3 books, 2 comics, a photo of Kyle, and her fluffy unicorn into a bag to take with her.
''Hospital's ok' Agnes told Lucy as they left the house, 'The only trouble was not hearing it properly''. ''I understand that now sweetie' Lucy said 'Gru and I made a mistake there didn't we?''
''That's ok' Agnes replied 'let's go''.
