AN: Okay this was harsh Vanessa bashing, but it needed to be said. This is the conclusion that I wish Vanessa would finally come to. As for the 'wanted her dead' part. I for one, REALLY, REALLY wish they'd kill her off so that she could never interfere with JeNa again (or Chair for that matter)

I hope I'm not the only one:D

Vanessa had always hated the Upper East Side.

She had never bothered to try and fit in the way Jenny did. She hated how exposure to parties, pretty clothes and money changed people.

In all her years the only guy that had come close to fully capturing her restless heart was Dan.

Well, until she met Nate Archibald.

Now that their romance was well and truly dead, Vanessa could safely say that Nate Archibald was a disease.

A disease that affected nearly every girl who laid eyes on him.

Vanessa had assumed that she was immune to that particular disease.

But alas, inside every girl (even a girl like Vanessa), there is a longing to be loved and needed by someone as perfect as Nate.

She was a selfish creature at heart.

All she wanted was Nate, while all he wanted was her bestfriend.

So she stole the letter.

Vanessa concludes that she was just delaying the inevitable.

While Nate might have taken the whole moral outrage stance on the stunt that Jenny pulled at the Snowflake ball, he wouldn't stay mad for very long.

Nate Archibald was drawn to Jenny, like a moth was drawn to a flame.

Jenny had the chamilion ability.

She could willingly fit into the Upper East Side lifestyle, yet still manage to be just as comfortable with her Brooklyn roots.

Vanessa on the other hand refused to compromise.

She made no secret of her disdain for the Upper East Side and as a result, resisted all of Nate's attempts to incorporate her into his world.

Vanessa decided that it was high time to face facts; she and Nate were just too different.

No matter how hard she tried, she just wasn't meant for their world.

Everyone already had someone, a soulmate, and an other half if you will.

Chuck had Blair.

Dan had Serena.

And Vanessa had to realize that Nate (even if he didn't want to admit it yet), needed Jenny.

And she was all alone.

The odd one out.

She couldn't deal with her heart being broken again and again.

So she did what she did best.

She left.

It was the way it was meant to be.

No one would miss her.

Vanessa was pretty sure that a lot of people wanted her dead anyway.

For once in her life, she would be doing something utterly unselfish.

Letting things take their natural course.

Simple logic.

Nate belonged with Jenny.

Chuck belonged with Blair.

Dan belonged with Serena.

There was no place for her on the Upper East Side.
