Somebody once told Rin that you could see the soul in a persons eyes. She laughed, implying that she thought that phrase was 'overused', 'cheesy' and 'cliché'. Rin would've been right if she was considered normal, but, sadly, she wasn't. Rin could do things normal human beings couldn't, and she hated it. She hated it with her heart. She was special, she had been told. She had been blessed, she was brilliant, a mastermind. She could see into souls like they were magnified and simplified. That was why, for the last 5 years, Rin had been trained by the best.

People like Rin, could do things, things that were considered impossible to the rest of the world. She could read souls like a book, change souls like pencil erased with a rubber and destroy souls. All easily. So, all her skills were perfected until the time had come for her to use them.

"Do you remember the legend I told you many years ago, Rin?" A calm voice asked, it was the voice of a woman. Her name was Meiko and she was gifted, but not as gifted as Rin, "The story of 'eyes'?"

"How could I forget?" Rin asked, her dirty blond bangs covering her eyes, "It was drummed into my head until I was screaming in pain."

Rin was petite and skinny, with messy blond hair that fell to her shoulders and bangs that almost always covered her eyes. She had pale skin and a flat chest, which made her look younger then she really was. The girl was cold to many people, angry about obtaining the talent she had, all she wanted was a normal life, without the mysteries. Rin's eyes were vibrant though, and they showed her inner personality, her dream to be free and happy. It made Rin feel ashamed, so she rarely cut her bangs to make sure nobody could see her azure eyes.

Meiko was different, she was older, tall and had a chest that most women would only dream about having. Her figure was curvy and her hair was brown, short and straight. Meiko's eyes were also brown with hints of a deep ruby colour inside them, they showed her bravery and strength, which she displayed anyway. Both Rin and Meiko wore simple kimonos for their meeting, because Meiko had claimed that the meeting was 'very important'.

"Recite the story to me Rin, please." Meiko said, sounding eerie and distant.

"When the world was born, some people were created differently, they served a soul purpose." Rin began, her voice echoing on the walls of the large room she was sitting in, "To read the souls of common humans, and identify if they were worthy of living. One side chose to abuse their power and so they picked on innocent citizens, making their lives a misery and eventually killing them. While the other side chose to try and help humans with their lives by helping to purify the souls.

"Slowly, the heavens became angry with two sides picking paths and declared that one day a person would be born who could overpower both sides, the ultimate being. The being would be perfect and on the beings fourteenth birthday, they would begin to understand their purpose. The being can do what soul readers can do, but more and better. Nobody knows exactly what this being will able to do until they turn fourteen. Their eyes shine brighter then anyone else's and their eyes show purity to the highest. Therefore, we wait for this being to come."

Meiko nodded with approval in the dim light, "Very well recited, Rin."

Rin thought for a moment, "Why did you ask me to recite this?"

"Because, Rin, I am ready to tell you," Meiko stated, "That we have located the being, and you will bring him to us, so that he can take the life of purity, the one of helping humans rather than destroying them."

"Me?" Rin asked, having mixed feelings about what she had just been told, "Why me?"

"The being is approximately the same age as you and I know that you want to see the humans as if you were one, Rin." Meiko said, with a smile on her face that Rin couldn't see, "You may not have much time in the human world, only school hours, but hopefully after completing this task, your parents may consider moving to a human community."

Rin's eyes shined underneath her bangs, but she blushed at the same time, "How did you know about my dreams?"

"I may not be able to read your soul through your eyes, but your dream is obvious." Meiko replied, trying to stay serious without laughing, "Anyway, I shall show you whom the ultimate being is."

Meiko brought at a book from behind where she was sitting, it was titled 'Mirror'. The cover was a faded blood colour and it almost made Rin shudder, but she held it back. Meiko's long red nails tapped the book cover a few times before she opened it swiftly, flicking to the correct page almost immediately. Rin wasn't expecting Meiko to summon the ultimate beings image so quickly, but as soon as it appeared it was obviously the right person.

The image Rin saw was a boy, who looked around her age. Her had messy blond hair tied into an equally messy ponytail and lively azure eyes that stared into your soul. He had high cheekbones and slightly tanned skin, with no blemishes whatsoever. His cheeks were slightly flushed and it looked as if he was out of breath. Rin couldn't stop staring at his face, but when she looked at the rest of the image, she began to focus on it.

The boy seemed to be wearing a human school uniform, consisting of a shirt, red tie and trousers. He was carrying a guitar in his hands and he had a huge, heart melting grin on his face. Rin lingered on his eyes again, which were unreal. So pure, they were the eyes of an angel.

"Are you going to stop staring at him any time soon?" Meiko asked, sounding a little impatient. She finally closed the book with a thud and tapped her fingers in a pattern on the case once again.

"Sorry." Rin replied, snapping out of her trance once the book closed, "You just had to pick a beauty shot, didn't you?"

"Trust me, he can look a lot better." Meiko replied, Rin ignored that fact that Meiko knew such things, "Anyway," Meiko stood up and Rin followed, "You should prepare for your trip, I have already enrolled you into his school and bought a uniform for you. Try to familiarise yourself with human behaviour or something. Also, his best friends are from the other side, so watch out for that. You'll be starting at the school tomorrow, which is also the boys fourteenth birthday."

Meiko was already heading for the door, but Rin realised she hadn't asked an important question.

"Wait! Meiko, what is his name?" Rin called, her voice echoing loudly.

"Len Kagamine." Meiko replied, before leaving the room loudly.

Rin was dancing around her bedroom, happy that she finally got to interact with humans properly!

"La la la~!" Rin sang, she had already been studying humans before Meiko gave her the task.

"Sis?" Rin's older sister put her head through the door, "Can I tell you something?"

Rin stopped in her tracks and narrowed her eyes, "Come in, whatever. Can't you see I'm busy, Lily?"

Lily looked like an older more mature version of Rin, she had long blond hair and quite a curvy figure. She sat on Rin's bed and patted the spot beside his, the impatient look in her eyes telling Rin to sit beside her immediately.

"Rin, I want you to be careful around humans." Lily said sharply, "Some aren't as nice as you think."

"Hmpf." Rin said, "I already worked that one out."

"All I'm saying is, that Len is more intelligent then his looks. He won't trust you easily, you have to mean what you say." Lily said solemnly.

Rin laughed, "Like I'd believe that! That innocent kid looks like the most gullible person I've ever seen!"

Lily glared at Rin, getting off of the bed, "You've been warned, sis."

Rin rolled her eyes, not as if Lily could see underneath her fringe anyway, "Whatever."

Here is a new story out of my writers block for Carelessly Crushing Paper! It's weird and stuff...so yeah. I'm terrible at writing in fantasy.

Hehe. Don't shoot me for it!
