If I owned any of this - Neal would have the sudden desire to send his hat to a certain address in Texas. But as I am currently hatless - I think you can see that I own nothing. *sighs sadly*


Peter sipped his coffee, his lips pursed as he read the case files in front of him. An old college buddy of his in Philadelphia was having some trouble on a case of his and had faxed him the reports – in hopes that he and his pet desperado might be able to help. Peter grimaced slightly as he took another sip of coffee. The ways the agents had gone about investigating the crime… Peter shook his head in disgust. No wonder they hadn't caught the guy yet.

Investors lost more than 150 million dollars through the alleged scheme that included inflating stock values-

"Really? Tonight? Are you sure-"

Peter looked up, mild curiosity alight in his gaze. Neal was pacing back and forth, twirling a pencil around like a music conductor's baton and talking animatedly on the phone. Who he was talking to and about what – Peter could only guess.

"Very interesting… does the old guy – the one with the missing thumb – still work there? What's his name…"

Peter's lips curled around the brim of his coffee mug in a smile as he went back to the files.

The scheme to defraud collapsed on May 13, 1998, when federal search warrants were executed in Pennsylvania and-

"No – the tracker won't be a problem... yup…. Is he planning to do it underground again?"

Peter blinked and looked up slowly. The tracker wouldn't be a problem? Damn it. What was Caffrey getting into now?

"So who is in on it – is Jefferson…?"

Peter tried to concentrate on the case report.

in a multi-million dollar scheme…

"Wait one moment, I need to check something."

Peter looked up in time to see Neal put his hand over the mouthpiece of the phone and look towards him expectantly.

"Peter? Is it illegal to-"

Peter stood up abruptly and snapped the phone out of Neal's hands. "I'm sorry – but Mr. Caffrey is busy. Good bye." He pushed the end call button without another word and shoved the phone back into Neal's startled hands.

"Peter!" Neal protested – spreading his arms in disbelief. "You didn't even know what I was going to ask!"

Peter looked at him sternly. "If you have to ask, it can't be good." He sat back down and swallowed the last dregs of his coffee.

The indictment alleges that between 1993 and September of 1998, Semion Mogilevich headed and controlled the Mogilevich Enterprise-
