"Cas, don't ever change," Dean grinned, clapping the angel on the back before leading the way back to the Impala. Dean turned the key and the engine purred to life and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry blasted through the speakers. Dean groaned, not wanting to here the annoying sound of Miss Perry's voice and went to change the station when a hand stopped him. He stared over at Castiel with a horrified expression on his face. "Dude!" Dean exclaimed.
"I-I like this song," Castiel blushed.
Dean ran his tongue over his lips before asking, "Where have you even heard this song, Cas?"
The angel dipped his head, slightly embarrassed. "I heard it on the television one night after you had fallen asleep."
Dean opened his mouth to say something else, but before he could, Castiel turned up the volume and hummed along. This wasn't going to fly with Dean, this kind of music wasn't to be played in his baby! It was classic rock or nothing! "Cas," Dean said, his voice a tad bit higher than normal, "This is a chick song,"
The angel didn't understand what this meant. "So?"
Dean sighed, "So guys like us don't listen to it." Dean said as though it should have been obvious. By now, the chorus had started and Dean heard him start mumbling along. Occasionally he'd hear a few verses now and then ("You… Me… Living a teenage dream…. Turn me on…. Run away don't ever…. My heart stops… Just one touch…"), which was making Dean a little ashamed to know him. Castiel knowing some of the words had meant that he'd heard it more than once. dean cleared his throat. "Cas, how many times have you heard this song?" He kept singing along. "CAS!" dean shouted over the auto-tuned mess.
Cas turned his head. "Yes?"
Dean shook his head. "You're embarrassing me."
Cas' face turned a little sad. "My apologies." Dean rolled his eyes and flipped the station. Much to his disappointment, Always by Bon Jovi was on the next one, followed by Hanging By a Moment by Lifehouse on the next, and finally, Angel by Aerosmith. Just leave it, Dean growled to himself, trying to block out the opening guitar riff. Dean bit down on the inside of his cheek and glared out the window. "Dean?" Castiel asked after a few verses.
Dean turned his glare on the angel. The song still pumping through the speakers ("I want your love, let's break the walls between us, don't make it tough, I'll put away my pride."). Castiel shrunk under Dean's look, but the next line made him smile. You're my angel, come and save me tonight. Cas grinned.
Dean furrowed his brows. "What's so funny, Chuckles?"
Castiel blushed. "Nothing,"
Dean glared at him again, taking his eyes off the road. "What?"
He shook his head. "Nothing, Dean!"
"Dammit, Cas!" Dean yelled.
Castiel flushed a bright red color. "It's just a little funny because I'm your angel, and I do save you…"
Dean gulped. "…Oh…."
They sat in silence as the guitar solo filled the small space. Castiel smiling and Dean staring out the windshield with his lips pressed in a hard line. The song got to it's guitar solo and Dean asked, "Cas?"
Castiel turned his head back to his friend. "Yes Dean?"
"Do you really mean that?"
"What?"
Dean's face turned pink. "That you're my angel?"
Castiel chuckled, "I'm whatever you want me to be, Dean."
Hearing this, Dean pulled off to the side of the road and cut the engine. "What about this?" He leaned across the seat of his car and kissed his angel on the lips, cupping his chin in his left hand. ("You're the reason I live, you're the reason I die, you're the reason I give, when I break down and cry, don't need no reason why,")
When Dean pulled away to look him in the eyes, Castiel smiled and said, "I think I can do that." Dean started his baby again, and when they were safely driving down the road, took Cas' hand in his and held it until they reached the hotel.
