Because the hate between Yuu/Shinoa and Yuu/Mika shippers has reacged an unbelievable point, I've decided to write a drabble with Mika and Shinoa beings buddies because that's what they're going to become I'm sure of it.

Leave a review if you like it! :)

There was a knock on the door and Shinoa almost jumped in her bed, seeing how deeply lost she was in her thoughts.

"Come in" she said.

She was surprised to see blonde hair and piercing red eyes peeking inside.

"M-Mika?"

Mika didn't lose his composure as he closed the door behind him.

"Is everything okay?" she asked, alarmed.

"Yes" he said calmly "Yuu was just worried about you but your squad wouldn't let him leave his bed because of his injuries"

A little smile pulled at her lips "Typical him" she whispered.

Mika observed her through thick eyelashes.

"I see you you've gotten better" he said "You were in a pretty bad shape"

"Yeah… but I'm good now. What about you?"

"M-me?" he asked, blushing.

Weird, Shinoa thought, maybe he's not used to having someone worry about him.

"Yeah, you"

"I'm… okay"

"I'm glad" she said with a smile. And she meant it.

There was an awkward moment of silence, then Mika straightened.

"Well then… I think I'll be going now"

He turned but before he could leave Shinoa grabbed his cape.

"Wait" she called "Everyone goes to sleep at this hour and I know for a fact that vampires don't need to sleep. How about you stay for a while? I'm kind of bored and I could really use some company"

Mika blushed even more, his red gaze going back and forth from her hand holding his cape to her face.

"I-I don't know" he whispered.

"I don't bite, you know" she joked "If anything I should be scared of you"

Mika's mouth edges rode up and Shinoa blinked.

"Did you just… smile?" she asked.

"I-it's not like that!" he exclaimed.

Shinoa laughed "Hey, it's okay! You're allowed to smile just like any other human being"

Mika widened his eyes "Human…"

Shinoa realised what she had said and cursed in her mind "Oh right… sorry, I know how much you hate humans"

Mika sighed, then sat gracefully on the chair near her bed.

"Not really… I mean sure but… not that much anymore" he said, then glanced at her "I surely don't hate you or the members of your squad"

"Well that's a progress" Shinoa smirked.

"Though I still can't trust that Guren guy" he added furrowing his eyebrows "There is just something off about him"

She looked away without saying anything. How could she, after all? Something was bugging her as well.

Saving the Lieutenant Colonel from the vampires had been way too easy and he had acted weird since then.

"I know you don't trust him because he's trying to use Yuu" she said "But I can assure you my comrades and I want what's best for him just like you do. We're willing to run away if anything happens"

Mika lifted his gaze to her face, eyes wide as if he didn't expect them to be ready to sacrifice everything for Yuu.

"You really would do that?" he asked.

"Family takes care of family. I already told you, didn't I?"

He blinked and then nodded.

"Thanks by the way… for that time"

"No need to thank me. You were the safest option for Yuu. Besides, I was indeed right"

"Mh? About what?"

"About trusting you. You actually did come back"

She extended her hand and Mika looked at it with a baffled expression.

"Mikaela Hyakuya, we may have had a rough start, but let's work together to keep Yuu safe. Okay?"

He seemed hesitant at first, but then he reached out and squeezed her hand.

His grasp was surprisingly warm and Shinoa looked up to see that he was smiling.

And it was a honest smile.

"Alright. Let's keep him safe together"
