Once they reached the roof everyone just wandered off in two's leaving Toby by himself. Ellie and Jimmy went one way and Sean and Hazel went the other. Ellie wondered out loud whether they were the only people to every come up to the roof. Jimmy bent down and picked up a necklace and said that they weren't. Jimmy said that he thought it would look nice on Ellie and put it around her neck. "Better than those chains, hey?" He remarked. She started to respond that she liked those chains and that's why she wore them but Jimmy kissed her before she got through the sentence. "What was that for, Brooks?" Jimmy shrugged and answered "To stop you from going into one of your 'Ellie Nash' rants. And also cause I guess I like you. You're different from most girls. Most girls just care about pink nail polish and shopping. I like how you have your own style."
Hazel and Sean were hanging around a big pipe, talking. Out of the blue Sean randomly said that he thought Hazel was cute. Hazel tried to control her smile but Sean saw and thought he got to her. "Dream on." Hazel replied. They both lay back on the roof, relaxing. Sean asked Hazel if she was scared of him like everyone else. "I used to be but now I kinda like you. Do you think I'm weird cause I'm a cheerleader and stuff like that?" Sean thought about it and replied "I used to think you were just a stuck-up princess who does whatever Paige tells you to do but getting to know you was fun." They looked at each other and joined hands. Then everyone heard Toby telling them that Raditch was coming.
They raced back into the school and ran through that hallways and everyone raced back to their classrooms but Sean's was locked. Jimmy comes to help Sean but after getting the door unlocked he accidentally drops the keys in his rush to get back to his room. He decided that he didn't have enough time to get them and get back to the room without Mr. Raditch catching him. Mr. Raditch stepped right on the keys and picked them up. He assembled all the kids in one room and asked them who took the keys. Jimmy starts to say that it was him but then Toby says that it was him. Mr. Raditch lectures him for a few minutes but then tells everyone to go home. Hazel jokes about having a group hug and Ellie says that she has a camera in her bag and that she will take a picture. She accidentally drops her bag and her tape recorder starts playing. The tape started playing Jimmy and Ellie's conversation from the roof. Ellie explained that she was making a short piece for co-op on Saturday detention and just needed a few idea's and the group asked why she didn't just ask them. Ellie replied that she didn't know and then they took a picture of them all together. On Monday they smile at each other in the hallways and say hi but they don't tell anyone what happened at that Saturday detention.
