The beautiful Alola Ninetales, Crysta walked up to the edge of the lake and stared at her reflection in the water, "Why do they hate me so much? Is it because of my strange blue eyes? Is it because I'm ice type?" The bullied Ninetales soaked her burned paws in the water, "I just wish I knew why they'd do such a thing."
Crysta closed her eyes and started to cry, ice cold tears running down her snout and becoming salty drops of ice when they reached the tip of her nose. One by one, her frozen tears plopped into the lake's water like an emotional hail. I was watching from a nearby bush and felt nothing but pity for the poor, beautiful creature. I decided to step out but I couldn't make myself known even if I wanted. She was just too lost in her own sorrow so I slowly crept up to her and sat down next to her. Slowly, I raised my hand and started petting the tuft of fur on her head, "What's wrong?" I asked.
The ice type Ninetales sniffled and looked at me, "Oh...I'm sorry, I didn't notice you sneak up on me. I guess I was just crying too hard. I'm Crysta."
"I'm Kurt." I replied, scratching Crysta behind her ears, "Why is a beautiful Ninetales such as yourself so upset?" I asked.
Crysta sniffed softly, watching another stray tear run the length of her muzzle. I noticed the tear, reached forward and brushed it away with my thumb, making her blush slightly. It took her a few long seconds to compose herself before she spoke to me again, "I was beaten up by a bunch of other Ninetales. They burned me real bad with their Will-O-Wisps. They called me so many awful names. They even told me that I should just melt out of existence."
"They've obviously never seen an Alola Ninetales before." I replied, putting my arm around her.
Crysta blinked her beautiful blue eyes at me, "Alola Ninetales? What's that?"
"Alola Ninetales are Ice and Fairy Ninetales who live in the Alola region. You must've been adopted or lost as a young Vulpix." I explained, stroking her soft fur.
"So, I'm not a genetic freak?" Crysta asked with a few glistening tears rolling down her muzzle, making wet tracks from the corners of her sapphire blue eyes to the tip of her nose as she hung her head sadly.
"Of course not. In fact, you're as natural as can be!" I replied, leaning forward and licking Crysta's tears off her muzzle and nose with my tongue, just like another Ninetales would. Her tears were as cold as distilled fridge water but had a salty sweetness to them as I savored them.
"Thank you so much, Kurt!" Crysta sobbed, licking my face and resting her head of my shoulder. After about 20 seconds, I felt ice cubes running down my back. The Alolan Ninetales was crying again but this time for joy, frigid tears of happiness streaming off her snout and onto my back. I rubbed her back for a good 10 minutes before she stopped and looked at me with the most adorable look on her face, "Really, I can't thank you enough. No one's ever been so kind to me before."
"You're very welcome, Crysta." I replied, reaching into my backpack and pulling out some Burn Heal for Crysta's wounds, "Now hold still, this may sting a little."
I sprayed the Burn Heal on Crysta and she let out a sharp whimper but then nuzzled herself into my arms as I continued to pet her. "Kurt?" She asked.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"I think I want you to be my trainer. Or at least my best friend. Just so you know, I've never had a single friend before." Crysta spoke with a sad smile.
I kissed the Alola Ninetales on the head and scratched her behind her ears, "Well then, I guess I'll be your very first friend, huh?"
Crysta let out a content sigh and curled up into my lap where she fell asleep. The sun set and soon it turned dark. A shooting star streaked across the pitch black sky as we cuddled together. The end.
