This idea came after having a discussion on who would most likely was suppose to be the mayor in New Leaf.
It had been little over a year since I landed in this new town out of the blue. I can still remember the day perfectly as the weather was beautiful and the train ride was peaceful. Well it was almost peaceful minus Rover, the cat that was more then curious about my destination.
To my biggest surprise I walked out of the train to a big welcome. It turns out the villagers thought I was the mayor. I was furthest from it as I had never ever really settled in one town for long. Now suddenly people thought I was qualified to run this town.
I still couldn't understand how no one knew who the mayor was to begin with. One would assume that Isabelle would know the difference since her job was to help me out. Besides someone had to hire me or the person who should have been me. Even Tortimer, the former mayor, did not seem to know.
To my credit, I believe I was doing a good job about it. Many new shops had open. Our museum was almost full with visitors coming often. Isabel said that the villagers were satisfied with the job I was doing. I doubted that, as they often wanted something new built or more of another thing.
Yet after all this time, one question remained: who was supposed to be the mayor. I still had the letter I got from the real mayor. They seemed happy that I was now the mayor. I often wonder if they did not want to be in charge and had a change of heart.
This question often leads me to Rover again. He was on the same train as the suppose to be mayor and I were on. Often I dismiss it since he seemed clueless about the town name. Even if he did have the map for it… Maybe he was a traveling soul like I was. The fear of settling down to take on a role would scare anyone. I was the perfect solution, clueless and on the same train. He could easily play clueless in order to trick me into giving him enough information to see if I was going to the town.
Looking back it might have been the greatest mistake to ever happen. I had finally found a home to rest my traveling soul. No longer would I travel from one place to the next. A solid house belonged to me.
Well there is no time to really debate this problem as the villagers are complaining about the whole two weeds that are in the town. I swear there is never a day of rest for the mayor.
