How It Should Be Chapter 1

Note: This is set during Jax and Courtney's wedding. This will be a Journey fic. So don't read it unless you like Journey. Picks up right before Courtney walks down the aisle when Carly sees Jason.

Carly turned around facing Courtney after she had just seen Jason. "Listen to me Courtney…do you really love Jax or is he a consolation prize because you and Jason thought you couldn't hack it?"

Courtney looked at Carly. "No..I love Jason…yes but I love Jax too."

Carly looked at Courtney like she was lying. "Court..I know you and I know that Jason loves you and that you love him…why can't you see it."

Jason walked up to Courtney and Carly. "Carly…leave Courtney alone."

Carly looked over at Jason and smiled. "Sure. I'll leave you two alone."

Jason walked over to Courtney and looked at Carly as she walked away. "She's crazy.."

Courtney laughed. "Yeah she is…so what'd you want?"

Jason looked at Courtney and then down at his hands. "It's not easy to say this Courtney…"

Courtney looked at Jason. "What Jason? What's wrong? Is it Sonny?" Jason shook his head no. "What is it then?"

Jason laughed a little. "It's how I feel about this thing."

Courtney looked at him confused. "What thing?"

Jason looked down and then into Courtney's eyes. "This marriage…"

Courtney looked down at her bouquet. "Jason I thought we talked about this. You said you were happy for me. I thought you were with Sam."

Jason looked over at the Alter and then back to Courtney. "I was. I broke up with her before I went to see you. She's not you Court. I don't love her. I love you. And I can't stand back and watch you make the biggest mistake of your life."

Courtney looked at Jax standing there. Waiting for her. "Jason…you can't do this to me. I was waiting for you to. I waited for you to do something. To tell me we could try again and you went to be with Sam. How am I supposed to drop a man who is standing there? Waiting for me to marry him. Thinking that I love him and that he loves me and that you won't come between us. What am I supposed to do? Back off and just run with you?"

Jason looked back at Jax. He felt bad for the guy. "Courtney, I know okay? I know I screwed up and that you waited for me and that I didn't do anything but I'm doing something now. I don't want you to walk down that aisle and make a mistake. You're going to regret this if you marry Jax. You're going to look back on your life and wonder what if. I don't want that for you. I want us to try again. You're cool with the business now. You know why I do what I do. Can't we just give us a try?"

Courtney sighed. "I don't know Jason…"

Just then an usher came up to Courtney. "Courtney we're ready for you." Courtney looked at him. "Okay." She looked back at Jason. "Jason I'm sorry.."

Jason sighed and rubbed his eyes. "Courtney please reconsider this. Please?"
