Raven had been sitting outside by the edge of the water. She was thinking about the same thing she had been thinking about for the past year. That's why she came out every night. She needed to think. She found herself looking at her best friend then quickly looking away. She didn't want to admit it, but she had feelings for her best friend. She wished she could tell her about it but was not brave enough to.
"Why can't I just tell her?", she asked herself.
"Tell who what?", came a voice from behind her.
She instantly froze.
"Do not worry, it is only I, Starfire," she said.
"Oh, nothing Star," Raven replied.
"But Raven, it has to be something, otherwise you would not come out here every night," said Star.
"I just don't know if you would understand," Raven said.
"I may not, but I will listen. Maybe that will help you," Star suggested.
"Maybe, but I don't know how you would react. You will treat me differently than you do now," she stated.
"I will not treat you any differently," Star said
"Well, I have liked someone for past year, they haven't noticed, and I don't know how to tell them," she explained.
"Well, you could just tell them,"
"I'm not brave enough, I have tried, but I get cold feet at the last second," explained Raven.
"Get cold feet? How do you get the cold feet?" Star asked.
"Sorry Star, figure of speech," she apologized. "Anyway, it just keeps bugging me."
"You could try to do something unexpected to let them know," Star suggested.
"I could, but I doubt they like me," Raven said.
"You should just try whatever you have in mind, at least it might help you. Besides, you..." But the rest of her sentence was cut off, because she felt warm lips on her own. After a couple of seconds, Raven pulled away. She was blushing, thought Star could not see that in the growing darkness. She looked out at the water until she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked back at Star and found Star's cooler lips back on her own. When they pulled away, they looked at each other. Star smiled and said, "The feelings are mutual."
