A/N: Just wanted to write a story for DGM; It's AU and is set in somewhat modern times. Or at least in the 1920's. :D
Miranda secretly smiled as she spotted that one person in the same corner of the bar. He's been coming in the bar for almost a week now, sitting in the same spot, listening to her singing. Somehow, the mysterious man managed to capture her fragile heart. She couldn't help but blush slightly at the thought, but she nevertheless readied herself to perform, for the last time.
She could feel him staring at her while walking up the stage, making her feel both embarrassed and excited. As soon as she sat on her usual seat, she took a deep breath and started singing, occasionally stealing glances at the mysterious man.
Tyki couldn't help but grin when he spotted her, he doesn't know why, but he couldn't help but stare at her. When he first stepped in to this bar, the first thing he noticed is her, and how passionate she sang. Almost instantly, he was enamoured by her. He looked over at her again and heaved a deep sigh as he slowly drank his whiskey. He knows that his time in this place is limited, but still, he couldn't help but come here almost every day just to see her again, just to hear her singing again. But, if he were honest with himself, he's falling in love with her. Even though he can't – he shouldn't – because, in the end, the both of them will be hurt.
He's a soldier, she's a civilian, and he can't take the risk of endangering her life. He poured more whiskey in his glass, and then proceeded to drink it slowly, to swallow the pain in his heart.
Miranda took another glance at the mysterious stranger, her eyes widen in surprise as he looked at her in the eye. Despite the dim lights and slight hazy smoke, she could somehow see the emotions pooling in his brown eyes. Pain, Sadness, and Love. Seeing these emotions, she wants to cry but she can't. So she just held the microphone a little tighter than usual, mentally willing herself not to cry. She also senses that it'll be the last time she'll see him again, and so, for the last time, she smiled warmly at his direction, pouring all her emotions in the song that she's singing.
Tyki was in shock when the lovely woman flashed him a warm smile, realizing that their feelings are mutual but….. It's not meant to be. He held his glass a little tighter, smiling back in return, knowing her feelings through her voice and warm smile. For one last time, he'll pretend that the night won't end, he'll pretend that everything in the world is al-right; that he didn't have to go to war, and perhaps, he's just an ordinary man, admiring and loving the one woman in his eyes. Just for one night, for the final time.
