Good Though

By DireSquirrel

Harry Potter was tired of cooking.

He, Ron and Hermione were searching for the Horcrux Riddle had scattered across the land. They'd been camping out after the disastrous escape from #12 and during that time, they'd needed sustenance.

At first they'd taken turns, but none of them actually enjoyed cooking. Therefore they'd decided that the first person to complain about the food would be the next person to cook.

Harry had been cooking three meals a day for two months.

Being a good cook, Harry-prepared meals had few complaints. The other two soon learned that if they kept their mouths shut, they wouldn't have to cook.

"I've had enough!" Harry snarled as he bent over the cook pot. The stew was bubbling before him and suddenly he had an idea.

Their latest campsite, covered by notice-me-not spells, was right next to an equestrian course. In the darkening depths of twilight, Harry snuck out of his room, out of the tent and into the field, levitating the pot of stew along beside him. He dropped several half dried bundles of fecal matter into the pot and struggled to keep from cackling evilly.

He set the pot on the stove and it was "ready" some time later.

He served the stew in bows for his best friends. Hermione sat down without a word. This seemed to be her technique for keeping from complaining. She dipped her spoon into the stew and took a sip. While her disgust and horror were clearly written on her face, she never said a word against it.

"Ron! Dinner!" Harry called out, stepping back to keep from being bowled over by his ravenous friend. Harry watched as Ron dragged his spoon across the bottom of his bowl and pulled up a heaping spoonful. Ron's eyes went wide as he put the spoon in his mouth.

"This tastes like horse shit!" he exclaimed in horror. Then his horror multiplied as he realized what he'd just said.

"Good, though! Good, though!"

AN: This is based on an old Maine joke about lumbermen in the old days when everything was hauled by horses. Worked pretty well for Harry Potter as well, which I don't own, by the way.
