Title: The news
Disclaimer: I most certainly do not own these characters (:
Pairing: Regulus/Remus
Summary: This is just a drabble on how I imagined poor Remus receiving the news of Regulus' death.
Reviews are amazing, so please do so! :3
Sirius, having just woken up, made his way down the stairs of the Potter's household into the kitchen, where James was already sitting at the table, eating a piece of toast smeared with jam, and Remus was making himself a cup of tea.
"Mornin' boys." Sirius greeted them, and both of them looked up and smiled slightly, "hey Pads." James greeted him first.
Remus wiggled his fingers at his friend, before continuing with his tea.
Sirius collapsed in the chair across from James and pulled the Daily Prophet towards him. He knew for a fact that neither of them had touched it yet, because they despised looking at the 'missing' or 'dead' list of people before they'd even had breakfast.
But Sirius always checked first thing.
He flipped through to the names, scanning for anyone he knew. It was only until he was halfway down, when his breath caught in his throat and he froze, staring at the name.
No.
It couldn't be.
James looked over at Sirius and groaned, "oh Merlin, who is it?" He asked softly, dreading the words.
Sirius swallowed hard and closed the paper. He couldn't do this to Remus. He couldn't let him know. Remus was heartbroken enough as it was. "Nothing." He shook his head.
James frowned and pulled the paper over to him and flipped it open. Remus moved to stand behind James and peered over his shoulder, scanning the page warily.
Then he spotted it.
smash
The cup slipped from between his fingers and smashed on the cold stone floor, and before anyone could say anything, Remus was running to the door.
James looked down at the paper, then closed his eyes.
Because right there, in black ink, read the name:
Regulus Arcturus Black.
