Hermione Granger

There were few people who Hermione Granger loved more than her best friends, Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter. Of course, she loved Ronald Weasley in a particular way that differed greatly from how she loved Harry, which was why she often found herself sharing a closer friendship with the latter, for while she never understood why, but Harry was almost a brother to her, and she felt it more comfortable sharing herself with him than with Ron, who she always wanted to show her better side to.

Which was why when they met Sirius Black, the prisoner who the trio had believed had it out for Harry the whole time, she spared no hesitancy in covering Harry with herself.

"If you want to kill him, you'll have to kill us too." She had proclaimed with all the bravery that the young Gryffindor could summon up in herself, for while Ron, incapacitated with an injured leg, had been unable to help, she knew that he would have been with her, covering Harry as well. And while her hands were shaking, and her grip on Harry, was unnecessarily tight, she refused to let herself show even the slightest of fear in her voice, stating the fact with as much conviction as she could, looking determinedly at the escaped convict in front of her.

Ginny Weasley

As soon as she reached Harry and shielded him from that arse of a Headmaster Severus Snape, her eyes locked against his cold dark ones, her legs felt like jelly. And yet she knew that, from the moment she felt his hand as she curled hers around his, that she was doing the right thing. Her heart may have been pounding and her teeth starting to chatter as her legs threatened to give way, but she held her head high as she glared down at the traitor standing at the front of the Great Hall, all the while refusing to let her fear get to her.

Her courage paid off when she heard Hermione, standing behind them, walk up behind them, covering their backs. Hermione, her best girl friend, who she considered one of the bravest people she had ever known, who had followed Harry to the end and back, and who, in spite of all her insecurities and fears, had stood strong and conquered, who had held her head high, and Ginny could not have felt any safer, any braver, and prouder of both Harry and Hermione than at that very moment. And for that, and that very reason alone, she stood strong, her head held high, all hesitancy or fear banished, as the rest of Dumbledore's Army and the Order stood strong beside them.
