The sun was rising but she had no desire to move. She could not sleep that night. She kept having nightmares about what the impending day would bring. She would die today, and come back tomorrow.

She knew the consequences of her decision. There was a possibility that she would never be able to do this again. This could be the last time she looked at his beautiful face again. The last time they held each other in their arms. She stroked his hair away from his face realizing that she never wanted to move from this spot. If given the choice she would die there, holding him forever.

When he stirred she moved with him. She burrowed herself deep in his arms making sure not to wake him. When he awoke she knew the day would begin and this moment would be over. There would be no more stillness. The moment would become serious and filled with doubts and words spoken over and over. Words they have said to each other many times before and meant every word.

She never wanted any of this. She expected her junior year to be filled with dances and games and pep rallies. But the moment her parents car hit the rail, it was obvious that would not occur.

Then he came into her life. He was so good she couldn't comprehend how so much good could be in one person. How he could show so much love and compassion to everyone around him and receive none back. He had had so much turmoil in his life. He deserved a happy ending. His ending though is to find out that the girl he has searched for his entire existence was to be sacrificed so some smug SOB could be a stupid hybrid.

As she looked at him once again, she was eternally grateful for his presence in her life whether it was the end or a new beginning

"You staring again," he said to her eyes still closed.

"I'm gazing," he replied with a grin.

"It's creepy,"

"It's romantic,"

And so begins the day.
