FIRST MEETING

It was quite, there was a slight breeze blowing and the sun warmed the back of the young airbender sitting cross-legged in the middle of a small, open room. Tenzin had always been the more serious of his siblings, Kya and Bumi and took his role as a Master Airbender seriously for when his father was gone Tenzin would be the only airbender left. The young man was in a state of tranquility, his eyes closed and his breathing even, it was easy to believe he was the only being on the planet at the moment, but he wasn't. From behind a pillar, a young girl, no more than ten watched the master meditate. Her long brown hair floated in the soft breeze and her clear eyes watched, wondering how it was even possible for someone to look that peaceful. Matching his position the girl dropped silently to the ground, crossed her legs, and rested her hands on her knees. Closing her eyes the young girl let her breathing even out as she tried to clear her mind and simply be. It was so easy believing she was the only one there, but she knew that Master Tenzin sat only a few feet away, while she hid behind the pillar. The brunette child had looked up to the Master ever since she was old enough to know who he was and even though she had never actually met him, she longed to. Lost in her thoughts and tranquil state, the child did not notice as the Master opened his eyes and stood turning to leave. Tenzin caught site of the small child and he frowned, what was a child doing meditating in the sanctuary? Shouldn't she be out playing with the children of the other Acolytes? Approaching the small child, Tenzin bent before her and spoke in a soothing timbre"Hello there, young one." Startled, the young child bolted up and out of her peaceful state. "Master Tenzin I-I'm sorry I- I was just wandering about and I-I saw you and I just wanted to try meditation, to see if I could be so at peace, like you"the girl stammered out in a high, gentle voice. Tenzin cracked but the smallest of smiles"What is your name child?" The girl looked up at the airbender"Pema, sir"she spoke softly, hoping she hadn't upset the Master in any way. Tenzin smiled and held out his hand to the small child"Well Pema, even though it's refreshing to see a child so interested in meditation, why don't we get you back outside to your friends, hmm?"he spoke gently as to not scare the girl. Pema smiled up at him with her bright eyes and let him take her hand as he led her back outside to the other children, Pema decided at that moment that she liked Master Tenzin even though he was so serious, she liked him just fine.

AN: Well, what do you guys think? Critics are welcome, but come on guys don't be mean I'm still kind of new to this. I thought it was just a nice little take on Tenzin and Pema's first meeting.
