Good Man by Emerson Drive
I don't need a whole lot of money
But I wouldn't turn a lottery down
I just need a little green in my pocket
Jonathan Kent died of a heart attack. He lived his whole life in Smallville, Kansas with the love his life Martha Kent and his son Clark Kent. He was a great honest man anyone would be proud to call him a friend.
So I can buy my buddies a round
All I want is a place to lay my head with the woman I love lyin in my bed
Kind of understated
My dreams aren't that complicated
Although he many don't think he lived a full life, they would be shocked to know that he did. He had a job that he loved: farmer, husband, and father. He worked to provide for those he loved.
I wanna be the one
When all is said and done
Who lived a good life, loved a good wife, and always helped someone in trouble
There were those who thought that he wasn't much of a man but if they knew this man for just a second it would change their lives forever. He made you think and learn from everything you did.
On the day they lay me down
I want everyone to gather round
And say he was a father, brother, neighbor and a friend
He was a good man!
He was a great man.
I used to dream of being a rock star
And seein? The world in style
Used to dream of havin a fast car
And driving that miracle mile
He had a big heart.
But I've heard tales those streets aren't paved in gold
They're full of pot holes and empty souls
Who never learn
Love is something you gotta earn
I remember a time when he didn't like me so much-Lex said into the crowd that gathered around the grave. Everyone chuckled. "I'm not a quitter and so I worked so hard to get Jonathan's respect and it shocked me when he gave me so much more-Lex smiled gently glancing at Clark who was crying.
I wanna be the one
When all is said and done
Who lived a good life, loved a good wife, and always helped someone in trouble
On the day they lay me down
They say Jonathan Kent died of a heart attack but I don't really believe it-Lex said looking around smiling at Martha and Clark who hugged each other. I think he died with a full heavy heart of love.
Want everyone to gather round
And say he was a father, brother, neighbor and a friend
He was a good man!
His pure heart is the only reason I can think of for today-Lex said catching a snowflake on his hand. Snow was his favorite weather. He once said it's a good day when snow fell. It was a farmer's day off, a family day to be spent by the fire and later if we were lucky eating Martha's cookies.
When I'm gone, I wanna leave a legacy
Of love and laughs and honesty behind me
Behind me
Clark and everyone around him chuckled, tears drying. "I know I didn't know him as long as everyone here did but this man…he was a good man, a great man. I'm glad to know that he has some connections in heaven so that he was able to send snow to comfort those left behind."
I wanna be the one

Who lived a good life, loved a good wife, and always helped someone in trouble
On the day they lay me down
Lex smiled and nodded as everyone began talking. He moved over to his husband Clark taking his hand. Martha clutched at Clark's free hand and they turned leaving the cemetery. "That was wonderful Lex. Jonathan would be proud," Martha whispered as they crowded into the old red truck.
Want everyone to gather round
And say he was a father, brother, neighbor and a friend
He was a good man
They rode in silence back to the house only to find everyone crowding the propriety—to celebrate Jonathan's life. Lex kissed Clark before entering the house whispering, "I love you."
Yaaaaa I wanna be a good man a father, a brother, a neighbor, and a friend
I wanna be a good man!
A/N: I went to see UP! (totally recommend) ending up crying throughout the whole movie and it just reminded me of Jonathan's burial. Nothing is mine! New tv show premiered June 21st on NBC named Merlin!
