Summary: Xehanort speaks to the two shadows, the heart and soul within

Note: This is not in story format, this is what is called an "epic" which is a poem that tells the story of a hero and an adventure, which this isn't quite that in-depth but beware, it is in poem format.

I always found it

Peculiar

How a man can have two shadows

When hit by light, at just the right

Angle,

You see both shapes around you

One is a darker man

The more predominant of the two

He stares blankly back from pristine white wall

As if waiting to see what I do

I move my hand and he moves his

We are two halves of a whole, he and I

But behind him another hand moves

The fainter, quieter guy

He is not bold nor eccentric

But quiet and scheming and wise

I reach out my hand and upon wall they meet

He stares into my eyes

"What is your name?" I ask of them

The dark one replies, "We have none."

"We are shreds of your heart and soul, locked away,

Nameless, faceless illusions."

"The light, " begins the other, "belies men their truest nature."

"Look upon the wall here, and the shadow is never forgotten

For men are made of both light and dark, within every heart there is some

But for myself, the twilight,

I stand as soul between life and heart."

"Now," speaks the dark one,

"You have become acquainted with us.

I do believe you own a name."

I simply reply, "Xehanort."

I am interested by these shapes on the wall

Fascinated by their voices and minds

Surely there must be something I could do

To someday here them aloud

"Is there something I may call you?" I ask,

"This is rather informal and I want to know you."

The two shadows laugh and shake their heads,

This child was cause to be amused.

"I am Ansem." speaks the first one,

"The master of the dark.

I know well of the heart and its truest evils

For as you know there are very many."

"I sleep inside your body

Watching you commit sin after wonderful sin

Rest assured, dear little child

You are no different from any other man."

I bite my tongue and try to think

Have I truly been so bad?

But then the twilight one begins to speak

And my attention all goes to him.

"I am Xemnas, I am your soul

I know your love, and care, and bond

They say we shadows cannot feel

But I am no heart, I am soul."

"I have seen your evils and your good trials

You have a strong, indomitable soul

So do not disappoint me, Xehanort,

And let me see this strength is just ruse."

"Never." I say to Xemnas,

"I am a strong boy, of this I can assure."

"Words are naught," Ansem demands,

"Your actions are what are truest.

Let us see you have this might

You so readily say you possess."

"Continue on your path, Xehanort.

I am curious to see how this ends

When you toy around with forbidden science

There is no room for careless error."

Needless to say Xemnas filled me with dread.

I turn around when a voice behind calls my name

And into obscurity the shadows vanish

But only to the naked eye

I know deep down, in my heart and soul they are there,

I am them and they are I.
