Authors note- so I finished he had to try promising my amazing readers a new story, completely different from that one. Loosely follows the storyline of the quarantine episode, except instead of Traci and Gail taking Lee in, it's our favourite couple, McSwarek. They both go to the hospital, say things…..do things. As I said, quarantine episode, therefore they haven't….erm…well you know. Without further stoppage….HERE IT IS :) I hope you guys like it, I'm not even sure if I like it, but here goes :)
~chapter one!
"Dispatch, this is 15-09, just informing that we'll be at the hospital for a while as we have a sick drunk."
"Sam, he's gonna hurl." Andy said, wrinkling her nose.
"Aw, McNally, don't like the smell of up-chuck?"
"Are you saying you do?"
"No, I'm saying I'm used to it. But were here, anyways, so it will matter less if he throws up in the hospital."
"Whatever, let's just get him out."
"Your wish is my command."
"I could get used to that!" Andy laughed.
"Don't." Sam smiled; dimples making her heart beat a little faster than necessary.
After getting Lee into a room, Sam and Andy were put in a waiting room all to their own.
"How long till we get back do you think?"
"Don't know, McNally. Could be twenty minutes, could be twenty hours. Depends on how long till the doc's decide if he was just drunk or if he was actually sick."
"Twenty hours?"
"That opposed to spending time with me?"
"No! Of course not Sam. You're not the one I'm angry with."
"I never did like Callaghan."
"Not talking about him, I'm talking about me."
"The female sex befuddles me."
"Maybe you should become 'friends' with more of them, it may lessen your confusion."
"Are you implying I need more female friends?"
"No, I'm implying that the female sex isn't that complicated."
"Then explain why you aren't angry at Callaghan." Sam said. It really confused him. Did she honestly thing him being a careless idiot was her fault?
"Fine. It's just, how did I not see this coming? As soon as Jo saw me and him in the locker room…and recognized him! I didn't notice anything. Well, I did, but I kind of wanted to brush it off, and I tried, and I almost did, and then…he did it. He wasn't supposed to be the one to…he was…" Andy stopped, clawing angrily at the tears now slowly sliding down her face. Her head bent, she slid into a chair beside Sam. He could still see the stray tears she didn't catch falling on her uniform.
"Andy…don't." Don't beat yourself up over something that isn't even remotely close to your fault. The fact that he did what he did was dumb. But you're angry. At the wrong person. You need to let some steam off. Look, what do you usually do when you're angry?"
"Be extra rude to suspects in custody. You know that."
"I do. But I'm serious, when you're pissed, what do you like to do?"
"I don't know. What do you like to do?" Andy asked, looking up. The tears had stopped, with her attention now focused on the impromptu game of Twenty Questions.
"Punch my locker. You know that." Sam said, dimples full force yet again.
"I do. But I don't think the hospital would take too well to me destroying their property."
"Likely not, no."
"Distract me." Andy said, looking at Sam. Sam, not one to show his confusion to the change in topic, agreed hesitantly.
"Alright. How?"
"I don't know; just say what's on your mind."
"Well, I don't think you wan-" Sam was cut off by Andy's gasp at the sign being stuck to the door. 'QUARANTINED AREA: DO NOT ENTER' it read in big block letters.
She turned to her partner, eyes wide.
"What does this mean?"
"It means settle in, because it looks like it will be around twenty hours after all."
Let me know what you think please :)
