NO FLAMES!!! Please...this is my first, and I want to have the courage to post another one.
She stared out over the rooftops, letting the sunlight wash over her. Dangling her feet over the edge of the cliff, she felt the breeze come by and tug at her hair, pulling it with it. She ignored it, and she continued to daydream.
She was waiting, ever waiting…
Two weeks earlier, she had stood at this exact spot with him, saying her goodbyes. He had been called out to the real world to investigate abnormal hollow attacks, and he had told her he'd return.
"Wait here for me." He had whispered. "I promise you I'll come back to you."
"Hurry back." She had replied, tears starting to fall. He had smiled, and after leaning in to kiss her, he had walked through the portal, turning back to look at her just before it swallowed him up. That memory of the last time she had seen him was frozen in her mind, and she had sworn to never move until he returned.
Wishing to see his smile…
Her friends had told her that she should go to her room; she could catch her death of cold sleeping outside. But she stubbornly persisted in staying here, where her love would return to her one day.
From time to time, others would pass her, and ask what she was doing. "Waiting." She'd reply, and would say nothing more. Rumors spread, but she ignored them. They were just rumors, after all.
Waiting, ever waiting…
Then she felt his aura, but she did not believe it at first, for she had felt the same presence in her dreams countless times. But then she heard his footsteps, and instinctively, she knew it was him. She turned her head, and for a moment, they stared at each other; then she leapt up and ran into her lover's embrace. "You're back." She murmured, burying her head in his chest.
"Sorry I took so long." He said. "You must have been worried."
She smiled. "It doesn't matter, so long as you're back, Shiro-chan."
He kissed her, smiling. "I've missed you, Momo." He replied. They smiled at each other, and Momo felt the flame of desire and love in her heart rear up. She tightened her hold around him, and she knew that everything would be all right so long as she was in his arms.
She was waiting no more.
