Chuck looked at Sarah blood and sweat pouring down his face, exhausted but glad that their ordeal was finally over and just plain relieved that they had survived, and pulled her in for a long overdue kiss. Even with all they had endured, the smile on Sarah's face told him that everything was going to be okay.
"I love you, Chuck."
"I love you too."
He paused and took a moment to collect himself before continuing.
"Sarah these crazy events the past few weeks got me thinking."
"About what?"
"About us. About our past. Our future. About how we got here and where we go. You once told me that without me you're nobody, nothing but a spy. That's not true. You are still Sarah Walker: Superspy whether I'm with you or not. You were doing amazing things long before we even met. When all this started, when Bryce sent me that email, my life changed forever. For a long time I thought that it was the Intersect that was responsible, that the computer made me a spy. I was wrong. I think I finally realized something I should have known all along- the Intersect didn't change my life. You did."
"Chuck-"
"Sarah please let me finish. I always thought that it was the Intersect that made me a spy, but after my mom blocked it and I was captured and you rescued me I realized that I didn't need the Intersect as long as I had you. I know that the government has tried to put Intersects into other people and none have been successful-"
"Except you."
"Except me."
"You're special, Chuck."
"No, Sarah, that's just it. I'm not. What I realized is that I am just an ordinary guy, not special in any way. I realized that the difference between me and them, why the Intersect worked here but nowhere else, is that I have you and they don't. I'm not special. You are. You are the reason all these incredible things are possible. You are the reason that I, and the team, work I've told you before that I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you and that's true. I guess I just didn't realize how true. You are everything to me, Sarah, and I don't care if it's corny but you are my world, my reason for living. The most incredible woman in the world. And I love you. I don't just want to be with you forever, I need to be with you forever. You make life worth living. I almost lost you today and I don't think I could survive if I did. So I was thinking, what if we quit? Or at least took an extended vacation. What if we just live like normal people? Even just for a while."
Sarah looked at Chuck and smiled.
"There's something I've been meaning to tell you, but with all that has happened recently I haven't had the chance until now. I love you so much, Chuck. And what you said, it's not corny. But you need to know that you are special. And not just as the Intersect, but as Chuck Bartowski, which I have told you before. Chuck you have no idea how much you mean to me because I can't possibly express it completely. I may have been a spy before I met you but you make me something much more important- a human being. You give me a life, a purpose. You give me hope for the nation we protect, and you give me hope for myself as a person. More than that you have given me a real life and now we finally get to have a future together. You told me that I changed your life, that you need me. Chuck, I need you too. Especially now, because I have another reason for us to be normal."
"Oh?"
"I'm pregnant."
