Fault
Even throughout the time after Hugo Strange had been defeated, Batman still was at war with himself with what the man had accused him of.
"Have you ever realized that this is all your fault? Your presence creates these animals; like germs, they spread. You created the environment that allowed the germ to mutate, to become stronger. Look at the Joker. Would he even exist if not for you? It must be depressing. All your sacrifices and yet, you are the one to blame."
He turned to type something on the computer in the Batcave, trying to distract himself from the internal war. Although it seemed to be that each criminal he brought down also gave him guilt.
He was wrong though… He thought before stopping and just staring up at the screen. The criminal's database was getting more populated each night.
Those people chose their lives though. Who's to say that if I never became Batman that this all wouldn't have happened anyway?
His thoughts were once again drawn to all the things that he had sacrificed in this war. Money didn't really matter to him; time was one thing that he had lots of when he wasn't working as Bruce Wayne, partners: the most painful one of all.
A stab of grief hit him when he looked over at the old Robin display, which immediately made his turn away and back to the computer.
Jason…
That was the one major thing that he regretted with this whole war.
It's fine if I sacrifice my life but not theirs…
He knew that he didn't ask for any of his partners in crime to join him, it just happened that way.
But they sacrificed so much, a normal life including…
He shook his head, trying to get rid of the thoughts that plagued his mind.
"Is everything alright Master Bruce?" He let out a small smile upon turning and seeing the man who had raised him all this time.
"Yes Alfred everything's fine." He stated as he got up to head out for the night.
They made their choice and I made mine. Things might have been different but this is the way things are now.
So I'm going to admit that I wasn't as satisfied with this one as my others. At first I was going to write it about during the final battle with Hugo Strange but then I figured out that no one wasted more time on that game than me on boss battles. That made things a bit harder so I figured I'd change it to him looking back at what Strange said to him after the game. Regardless of the way this turned out, I hope you still enjoyed it! Please let me know what you thought in a review!
