The Man She Loved
By: Sinnamon Spider
"Captain Sparrow!"
She followed him down the pier, watching him walk with his usual ambling stagger. He glanced back briefly.
"Come to join me crew, lad? Welcome aboard." He continued down the wooden planks.
"I'm here to find the man I love."
He froze as she approached, not turning around, and she could only imagine the bewildered expression he would be wearing. "I'm deeply flattered, son, but my first and only love is the sea." He motioned fervently at Gibbs.
She sighed. He was a liar. Beside her, Norrington leaned over the rail to vomit explosively into the water. She ignored him. "Meaning William Turner, Captain Sparrow."
He spun around, dreadlocks whirling. Gibbs stared in disbelief. "Elizabeth," Jack said softly, and she couldn't decipher the emotion behind the word. She knew only that her name had never sounded so good.
Jack spun back around. "Hide the rum," he warned Gibbs, who nodded and scurried away. He turned back to her. "You know, these clothes do not flatter you at all, it should be a dress or nothing." He pointed behind himself to the Pearl. "I happen to have no dress in my cabin."
Shoving away the delicious implications such a statement brought to her mind, she cut him off. "Jack. I know Will came to find you, where is he?" She had to work hard to make the quaver in her voice sound distressed, not desiring.
As he came closer, plying her with what was no doubt more lies, Elizabeth paid no attention. She had done what she had set out to do.
She had found the man she loved.
