Flowers for a ghost
A/N: BeChloe songfic based on the song „Flowers for a ghost" by Thriving Ivory. R&R. I don't own anything!
Her footsteps were crunching on the frozen ground, like she was walking on shards of glass. Cold, frozen, empty… the surroundings mirroring her thoughts.
In the twilight the bare trees were almost black stretching their dark branches into the grey sky. No birds could be heard. Black and grey everywhere. All was black and grey. No leaves, no flowers, no one, only nothingness.
You disappear with all your good intentions
And all I am is all I could not mention
Like who will bring me flowers when it's over
And who will give me comfort when it's cold
She wrapped her coat firmly around her waist as a cold gust of wind hit her. She looked up at the darkening sky. Blinking lights of a plane visible. She liked the thought that Beca was up there, just flying away. It was peaceful, comforting.
She took a plane to somewhere out in space
To start a life and maybe change the world
See I never meant for you to have to crawl
No I never meant to let you go at all
Oh no, oh no
Don't ever say goodbye
But she wasn't. Reality was a false friend, harsh, cutting in her thoughts like a knife. Again and again. She stopped bleeding a while ago. A numb pain had replaced the sadness and the tears. Putting a dullness over everything, covering it like fog.
See my head aches from all this thinking
Feels like a ship
God, God knows I'm sinking
Wonder what you do and where it is you stay
These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away
She felt like the air was cut off in her throat and she had trouble breathing as she reached her destination. After all these weeks that had passed by, it still hurt her like the first time. She kneeled down, her trembling hand that was covered in a black glove touched the white stone tenderly, tracing the inscription.
And I said who will bring me flowers when it's over
And who will give me comfort when it's cold
And who will I belong to when the day just won't give in
And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins
Oh oh, oh oh
Don't ever say goodbye
She placed the white lily on top of it. It looked lost and alone in this lifeless surrounding. Like she felt herself since Beca had left her.
And I'm only human
I said, I'm only human
And I'm only human
I said, I'm only human
And I'm only human
I said, I'm only human
I'm human
I'm human
And inevitable, like every time she visits her girlfriend's grave, the tears came. But by now she welcomed them as silent companions on her walk through this nightmare. Without a look back she left the cemetery, until tomorrow, when she would return.
