His eyes peeled open just enough as he rolled over to look at the clock on his nightstand. 03:36 AM. Taking a deep breath, he rolled back over too look at the body next to his. Curled up with blue-black locks neatly braided, Uchiha Hinata lay peacefully. Her face looks so doll-like it's enchanting. Uchiha Sasuke wonders how he could be to lucky to have married her. Sasuke lovingly gazes at his wife's face. There are a few small sliver scars on her resting face but that's all the risk in being shinobi. Sasuke muses about, letting his mind wander to places long past.
He's never really noticed the once Hyƫga girl. It was only after he came back to Konoha was that he realized that, among his childhood peers, had really caught his eye. When he was younger he thought her dumb when she chose to take on her cousin Neji. He though she was weak. But watching her after the war had made him realize that she was strong. All of her actions were out of love, and Sasuke knew he needed that in his life. Hinata offered Sasuke a different kind of love, one unconditional. Sasuke gently smiles at the memory of him asking her out on a date.
They had been talking for about a year when Sasuke decided he needed Hinata in his life, for his own loving. Hinata was so flustered and could barely get out a yes. He had to admit, knowing what he needs has changed him for the better. He was getting what he needed and it wasn't one sided. Hinata needed this too, he reminded himself. Frowning, he remembers how sad she was when Neji's name was put up on a memorial for those lost in the war. Hinata stayed at the memorial and sobbed for hours until he could pry her away. Sasuke reminded her that Neji's name would always be there, it wasn't going anywhere. She complied, albeit reluctantly, and he walked her to his apartment. Sasuke was smiling again. He had such happy memories. Sasuke was so engrossed in his memories, he didn't notice his wife open her eyes and stare at him.
Opal eyes stare into his onyx ones and Hinata lets out a sleepy giggle. She often finds Sasuke lost in his own musings when she wakes up. Removing her arm from the cocoon of blankets she pokes his nose.
"What are you thinking about, nee Sasuke?"
Sasuke blinks and realizes his wife staring at him tiredly and amused. He smiles and plants a kiss on Hinata's head.
"About you, Hina."
Hinata blushes and wraps her arms around Sasuke's chest.
"Love you Sasucake." She says, burying her head into the crook of his neck. Sasuke wraps his arms around Hinata and breaths in her citrusy hair.
"Love you always and forever Hinabun," he plants another kiss atop her head. "Now let's get some sleep."
