The History of Bade
Chapter One:
DRAMA QUEEN
"Acted drama requires surrender of one's self,
Sympathetic absorption in the play as it develops."
George P. Baker
Kiss me. Come on. Say it. Ask the hottie to kiss you, dammit! Jadelyn West, 8th grader, thought as she sat next to her crush/best friend during Improv class. "Beckley?" she asked, Timid, and slightly nervous… "Will you… I mean…could you…"
"Jadelyn, do you want to hang out some time?" Beckley Oliver said. "We could rehearse the Play…Romeo and Juliet are not going to play themselves you know…" Jade chewed her lip at this…Beck had always been her crush, and her best friend…
"Sure, Beckley." She replied. In her subconscious she heard herself think… What a wimpy little girl you are, Jadelyn. Jade smiled. Beckley always made her smile. He made her feel special, like she wasn't such a weird little freak show. As her older sister Elena called her. "We could do it at my place. My Parents are out of town, and my sister is away at college…"
"It sounds…perfect." Beckley said, smiling back. Then Andre Harris and that little geek Robert walked over, followed by the tiny cutesy new girl, Catarina. "Hey guys, want to have lunch?" Beckley asked as they approached.
"Sure, Beck." Said Andre. "Is Jade joining us?"
"I don't know? Are you Jadelyn?" Beckley replied. Jade glared at Beck…She hated when he did that; he knew the answer was yes, why did they do this every day?
"Beckley James Oliver, do you not know me? Of course I'm having lunch with you…don't I always?"She said. Beck stuck out his tongue. How childish, they were in the 8th grade now after all. Beckley should have acted like it. "Oh, Grow up…" she said bitterly.
"Jadelyn, this is Catarina Valentine. Catarina, this is Jadelyn West." Said Andre Harris, his honest smile plastered on his face. Jade swore no matter what may happen in the years to come, Andre's smile would never change. It was embedded in her memory. The same way Beck's laugh was…and the way Robbie's hair was a mess of curls and the way he carried around that stupid puppet.
At lunch, things were normal, because back then, Cat wasn't quite so messed up. Jade was well, a little creepy Goth chick trapped inside the body of an 8th grade girl who was told what she could leave the house in by her mother. Beck of course, was Beck; He always had been and always would be. Andre was a music addict…though judging by the looks of his taco; he had a Ketchup problem too. Robbie, of course, was just plain shy; Rex just seemed to add a layer of creepy on top of it.
"So Cat, do you want to hang out with us this weekend? My dad's taking us to the beach if you want to join us." Beckley stated. Jade watched as her best friend smiled at the little Brunette girl. His smile lit up the room.
At the end of the day, Jade and Beck walked over to Jade's house. "Thanks for coming Beckley." Jade Said.
"No Problem, West." He replied before looking nervously at his feet. "So, we could, you know, rehearse the Play..." he started, Jade nodded, not quite sure where this was going, "or we could just hang out and maybe grab some food."
"Food, Definitely food."
