Carter sighs. This day had been nothing but disaster. She had enough of this drabble and she was going to finish it. She walks into his office.

"General, may I have a word with you?" she asks him and he looks up in surprise.

"Carter, I didn't know you were back from your vacation. How's Paul?" Jack says with sarcasm and she can't but wonder what's hidden behind those words.

"Peter." She corrects him mildly

"Whatever. What can I do for you?" he asks and she founds herself being stared at by the General with caring eyes.

She takes a deep breathe and starts.

"What do you feel about my having my last name be O'Neill instead of Carter?" she asks and blushes slightly.

"I thought Paul's last name was something else." He says in confusion

"Peter!" she corrects him again "It is something else."

He takes this in and she sighs when he still don't understand.

"I want my name to be Samantha O'Neill instead of Samantha Carter or Samantha...whatever his name is."

Jack suddenly has a goofy grin on his face. Suddenly Daniel is standing in the doorway.

"You want Jack to adopt you?" he asks confused and Sam can't help but blush once more.

"No, I want him to marry me!" she says in frustration and surprise flicker on the men's faces.

Sam was starting to feel insecure. Had she been mistaken? Didn't the general love her? Was she making a fool out of herself?

"I'm sorry for disturbing you general. I better get back to Paul!" she turns around to go.

"Peter" Jack corrects her.

"Whatever" she answers him and she hears a giggle. She's almost at the door when he starts talking again.

"Oh Carter?"

Sam stops in her tracks.

"Yes Sir?"

"I like Samantha O'Neill. Sounds good on you. I think it suits you better then Peter's last name..." Jack says with a mild voice.

Sam turns around and meets his eyes. They glow with love and happiness. She smiles and nods.

"Then Sam O'Neill it is. If you two excuse me I have to find Paul and tell him that I finished my thinking to his proposal." She says satisfied and walks out of the door.

"Peter!" she hears the two men in the office correct her and she giggles. This turned out to be very good day indeed.
