Buffy walked along the avenue with an old friend that she hadn't seen in ages. Anne Steele had certainly built herself a respectable reputation and safe haven for Los Angeles.
"I never thought I'd be saying this, but I'm glad Dawn has a date." Buffy ranted aloud.
"Really? With who?"
"This guy named Brian. He's really nice and cute. They were friends from junior high school back in Sunnydale."
"So, Buffy, how have you been?" Anne asked, knowing she was opening up a can of worms. Buffy looked up at her smiling and replied.
"Ironically, not bad. Everything had been going pretty smoothly, which is weird but I'm liking it."
"That's good."
"What about you? I mean you know why I'm here and all and I totally appreciate you helping me, but surely you have some other place to be."
"Nope. Jess is handling things at the shelter and Gunn and Illyria have the whole what-to-do-about-a-certain-vampire-that-has-no-name down."
"Okay." Buffy said back at her and then looked towards the street. Seeing hundreds of people walking up and down the avenue reminded her of New York a lot. But she was thankful that it wasn't as crowded at Times Square was. Chasing a gang of vampires through a crowd of two hundred thousand people was most difficult.
"Did you ever think that you..."
"No, I didn't. But I did and I have you to thank you that."
"Me?" Buffy questioned.
"Yeah. That whole hell dimension and wanting to be a vampire thing kind of put me on the right path."
"Which is..."
"Annie! Annie!" A man's voice called from behind them. They both turned around and Buffy was greeted by a nice looking black man named Gunn and a woman with blue hair and a tight red bodysuit.
"What?"
"Problem." Gunn huffed.
"Illyria, what happened?"
"The blond one is going after the brooding one." She stated. Anne's eyes popped open and she looked at Buffy.
"Do you mind if we make a stop?"
"No, it's fine."
"Okay, come on." Anne grabbed her hand and they ran all the way back to the hotel. Hopefully they wouldn't be too late for the blond one to kill the brooding one, or the other way around.
"Yo, Spike, I didn't do anything to her!" Angel yelled, dodging Spike's punches and swings.
"You killed her!"
"No, I didn't."
"Yes you did."
"No I didn't!"
"Alright guys. I really don't think this is the time..."
"Shut up Andrew." They said in unison.
"See, I knew you two could agree on something." Andrew pointed out and crossing his arms when the two vampire's glares came.
"Why did you have to do that? Why?"
"Spike, she was hardly alive!"
"So, you just decided to go ahead and kill her off?"
"Why not? She wasn't helping us and we were losing ground."
Anne, Gunn, Illyria and Buffy busted into the hotel and watched as the vampires battled it out.
"So this blond one, has he always been like this?" Illyria asked.
"As much as I can remember." Gunn answered her. "I got twenty on him."
"You're betting on who gets staked now?" Anne blurted out, disapproving of Gunn's actions. Shaking her head, she walked down the stairs and right into Spike's path.
"Get out of the way Anne! I'm gonna punch him now!"
"No, you're not." She said with her arms folded across her chest. She could feel Angel stick out his tongue behind her and make faces at Spike. Anne smiled at Spike and finally took the figurines out of both of their hands. Turning around to face Angel, she said, "You can stop too. How many times do I have to explain this to you guys?" Anne took the figurine and shoved it in their faces. "This is a Barbie doll and this is a G.I. Joe. These are dolls you two! Dolls!" Anne threw them over on the couch and walked back to the stairwell. Looking at Gunn, she smirked.
"This is the last time I bring anything from the shelter over her. Are you guys still in kindergarten?" Anne walked out of the hotel with Buffy following her and laughing.
"Barbie Dolls?"
"Oh yeah, you should see them when I bring the Legos and building blocks."
