The Angel of Death
Hello, my name is Jade, no last name just Jade. You might know me better as the angel of death. My job was simple and easy until I was suppose to off a girl named Tori Vega. I thought it was going to be like any old assignment, when she dies extract her soul and take her to heaven or hell. She was lucky on that matter, according to my instructions she was going to heaven. I showed up right beside her at her school Hollywood Arts and for the first time in my life I doubted whether or not I wanted to fill this task.
I knew the consequences if I let her live, I would be removed of my spot as the angel of death and forced to live as a mortal. The kid who kills her, Robbie is his name, pulls out a gun and I watch as people start running and screaming. I heard the gun go off and Tori was hit; she was still standing there, and didn't run like the rest, out of confusion of what was going on by my guess. She fell to the floor and clutched at her stomach.
I just stood there watching her in pain as the paramedics got to her and I followed as they took her to the nearest hospital. I sat in her room watching as doctors did their best to save her life. I never stepped forward and took her soul. Yea she may be happy in heaven but she'd never get to experience a lot of things the mortal world offered. I felt relief as the doctor declared her stable and the nurses went to work.
I didn't do my job, I had failed to take her soul and now I was going to be made a mortal. I didn't really care to much about that to be honest I'd love to be mortal after so many centuries of service. So I said out loud one last favor from God. I asked when he made me mortal let me be near this girl. It seems my wish didn't fall on deaf ears as I become a real solid human right there.
One of the nurses saw me and asked if I was family. I smiled and said, "No I just started the same school as her and after seeing what happened I decided to come here and make sure she was okay."
"That was sweet of you," she said smiling at me, I gave her a kind smile back. "What's your name?" asked one of the nurses. "Jade, Jade West," I responded saying the first word that came to mind for my last name.
