Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "As Good as Gordon" from Season 8. Enjoy and comment.
It was a beautiful fall day on the Island of Sodor. All the engines were working hard.
Sir Topham Hatt came to Tidmouth Sheds. He had big news.
"Gordon will be taking the new mayor of Sodor on a special sights tour of Sodor." he announced.
Gordon felt grand, but soon, he wondered something.
"Who will take the Express sir?" he asked.
"Emily will take the Express."
Emily was very happy, but Gordon was not impressed.
"The Express is the longest passenger train on Sodor! I always make two trips before tea-time! You'll never do that!"
"I got big wheels, and I'll do my best!" said Emily.
"Big wheels don't make a big engine!" boasted Gordon. "Everyone knows I'm the best!"
Thomas thought Gordon was showing off.
"Twice before tea-time?" said Thomas. "That seems hard."
But Emily didn't listen to Thomas.
"I'm going to be as good as Gordon." thought Emily as she steamed away.
Emily puffed happily into Knapford Station. She was looking forward to taking the Express.
But the Express was very heavy.
"Bust my buffers!" she gasped as she slowly puffed out of the station.
However, Emily puffed away… without the brake coach!
Emily puffed as hard as she could. She was determined to be as good as Gordon.
Soon, Emily has crossed around Sodor once, in record time.
"I am as good as Gordon!" she puffed proudly.
At the next crossing, Emily had to wait for Edward.
Edward puffed slowly, making Emily cross.
"Hurry up slow-coach!" she snapped. "You'll make me late!"
Edward felt sad, but Emily kept on.
Emily stopped at Maithwaite Station, where the Express connected with Bertie the Bus.
But Bertie wasn't there. He had a flat tire, and was running late.
Emily tried to wait, but she couldn't!
"I'm going to be the slowest engine on Sodor!" thought Emily to herself, "and it's not my fault!"
As soon as Emily left, Bertie arrived.
Emily went to get some water.
When she arrived, James was there.
Emily wanted to go first.
"Let me go first!" snapped Emily.
"Wait your turn!" said James crossly.
"Express trains don't wait!" said Emily as she puffed away.
Emily was racing down the track at warp speed.
Finally, Emily saw Brendam Docks up ahead.
"Twice before tea-time!" exclaimed Emily. "I am as good as Gordon!"
Then, it happened. Emily began going slower and slower.
Soon, Emily halted to a stop.
Sir Topham Hatt arrived on board James. He was very cross.
"I heard that you've left the brake coach, stranded Bertie's passengers, and bumped your coaches!" he said sternly. "And now you have caused confusion and delay! You must learn to be patient!"
Emily knew Sir Topham Hatt was right. She felt very bad.
"I'm sorry sir." she said.
James pulled Emily into the docks, then went to get the Express.
"You must take the slow-goods train." said Sir Topham Hatt. "Make sure to go slow!"
"Yes sir!" said Emily. She was determined to do a good job.
After getting water, and lots of coal, Emily coupled up to the slow-goods train.
She stopped at all the stations, and let all the engines go first.
Then, she saw Thomas at the junction.
"I am learning patience!" she said.
Thomas was pleased at Emily.
When she returned, Sir Topham Hatt was waiting.
"Good work Emily!" he boomed. "You have learned patience, and you are a really useful engine!"
Emily felt very happy.
