I sighed and tossed my black backpack onto my bed. Another day of torture at school has come and gone. I looked at my face in the mirror. I've got what I like to call "sunshine blond" hair, blue eyes with contacts, and I'm a little chubby. I've never been popular; I like to keep to myself. My eyes looked tired, and I have pimples on my peaches and cream colored skin.
My room was messy. Books lay open on the floor, laundry falling out of the dresser, the bed wasn't made, and my cat, Lacy, sat on top of my desk and watched me.
"Nicki! You need to clean your room!" called my mom. She's a neat freak. She can't stand messy things. I'm surprised I've gone this long with my room as it is.
"Okay, Mom!"
I started throwing things into a pile, figureing I'd sort through it later. While I was "cleaning", I found my old Nintendo DS under my bed next to a rotten bowl of macaroni. It was the original DS, the one I'd had for about six years. It was blue and it had half-way peeled stickers on it. I checked the game slot. Pokemon Soulsilver! That had always been my favorite game. I plopped down on the floor and rubbed the screen with my shirtsleeve.
The power button was hard to press after so long without pushing it. I watched as the game went to the main menu. Dang it! Somehow my game didn't save. I'd have to start all over again. I pushed new game and up popped a thumbprint scanner. On the top screen it said, "Put your thumb on the scanner. Good. Now breathe in...and out." I followed the directions, wondering what was going on. "Welcome, Nicki. You are about to enter the world of Pokemon."
Suddenly, I felt something sucking my thumb inside the game! I yanked and yanked, but it kept pulling. I started to panic as my whole arm was quickly sucked in. Pulling...pulling...I remember hearing Lacy meow, but it sounded foggy. Everything faded to black.
