Title: Sea Shore
Summary: In which the two take a pleasant stroll on the beach, simply basking in the other's presence. Fem!NaruHina Oneshot.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto, if I did I'd be chillin' with dear old Kishi right now.
There was a woman standing at the water's edge.
Naruko, a bright soul rapidly embracing the prospect of womanhood, stood alone on the beach, gazing over the azure waters with her gentle cerulean orbs; the small, hidden flashes of gold around her slitted pupils shimmered in the sunlight. Her tawny hair danced lightly in the ocean breeze, tickling her cheek as she smiled to herself with anticipation as she traced a finger along her silver necklace, the Uzumaki spiral attached to the clasp. She wore a carrot-colored tank top, her shoulders a beautiful light khaki shade in the sun, and onyx shorts that fit loosely and reached just an inch past her knees. Her golden mane brushed against her shoulders, covering the simple fox tattoo that snaked its way around her visible skin. Her trademark whiskers twitched upwards as she smiled broadly, a familiar shade of violet entering her line of sight.
They had known each other since they were children, after rescuing her from a rag tag group of bullies, rushing in without a second thought once again. They had spent time together since then as fellow trainees at the academy, and if it hadn't been for her title as the Hyƫga heiress, others would have thought of them as siblings. However, it was not until recently that Naruko had recognized her feelings ran deeper than friendship, and from then on, they were inseparable. They shared every part of their lives with each other; it was to be expected with their wedding only a few days away.
Naruko's heterochromatic cores spotted Hinata further down on the beach, closer to the roaring sea. Her lovely strands rippled behind her in a violet wave. Her spheres were turned toward the ocean, hidden from Naruko's sight, but she knew and loved their gentle lavender hue. She was dressed in her usual everyday clothes, a simple lavender blouse and a white knee-length skirt. She had a generously curvaceous form, and incredibly fair skin. As Naruko drew nearer, she caught a note of Hinata's familiar aroma: a sweet, rich lavender. She smiled to herself, it was always there, permeating her form and clinging to her faintly despite how often she tended to cleanse herself. "Hina-chan," she called, walking towards her.
She jumped a bit before turning around, smiling shyly. "Oh, Naru-chan." She was still a bit timid, but she didn't stumble over her name like she had in their academy days. "I-It's nice to see you." Her tone was sincere, her eyes downcast.
"It's good to see you again," Naruko said, taking her hand. "Have I kept you waiting?"
"Not at all," she murmured. They began their leisurely walk along the ocean's edge. This had become routine for them, simple walks along the shore just to enjoy the other's company; the scenery was an added bonus.
To Naruko's surprise, Hinata was the first to speak. "I-I've never really... experienced anything like this. Like us." Her grip on Naruko's warm hand tightened, resting her head against the blonde's shoulder.
"Never?" she asked. She knew Hinata was too shy to date, but she
"Mm. It's different, with you." Hinata looked up at Naruko through her eyelashes.
"I love you," she replied, landing a peck on her soft plum hair.
"I love you too."
They strolled together for a few moments, the beautiful clear sapphire sky decorated with only a few hints of loamy clouds. The sun struck Hinata's strands in a magenta halo about her face.
Naruko looked at her admiringly. "You're beautiful, 'ttebayo," she told her. Hinata flushed a vivid scarlet.
"W-Why do you say that...?" she stuttered, reeling from the compliment.
"Because it's the truth." Naruko placed her hand around Hinata, drawing her nearer. "Not only that," he continued. "You're talented as well. We couldn't have saved the world without you."
"I caused a lot of trouble for you," she mumbled. "You were really the one who did all those amazing things. And you're so strong..." Her eyes wandered over Naruko's face, her unblemished depths, her blonde mane. "... And handsome. Sometimes I can't believe you were that scrawny tomboy..."
"I'm not that scrawny tomboy anymore," she replied with a frown that might have been hurt or joking. "We've both come a long way since then. I've gained the strength to protect you, like I said I would."
"As long as you're by my side," she whispered, letting Naruko draw her into an embrace, "nothing bad will happen to me."
"I swear it, and I never go back on my word." Naruko affirmed, a soft smile gracing her lips as the two watched the sun disappear over the horizon.
"Our ningo..." she whispered, her hand seeking out Naruko's firmer ones.
"Our ninja way." Naruko's lithe fingers curled around Hinata's, relishing the warmth of her hand. Together they watched the heavens awaken with billions of stars across the night sky.
They basked in each other's quiet companionship for a few moments.
"Naruko-chan?"
"Hm?" The whiskered blonde hummed in response.
"You remember... That night correct?" Hinata fidgeted, "As in, Naruto night?" She watched as Naruko's features shifted between befuddlement, to realization, and finally bashful.
"Why are you bringing that up now, 'ttebayo!?" Her face went crimson, including the tips of her ears.
"We both believed that it wasn't possible, but somehow you seem to make everything work in your favor..." Hinata began hesitantly.
Naruko's brow furrowed, her confusion painfully obvious. "What are you talking about Hinata?" She had an inkling of what the purplette was implying, but that couldn't happen right? Tsunade-baa-chan had said so herself, and she was a medical genius.
"I'm pregnant, Naruko-chan."
"..."
"..." Silence ensued between the two shinobi, Hinata looking to her partner anxiously, the other floundering to process what was happening.
Pregnant? Did that make her a mother, or technically, a father? This was too much at once, and combined with the nerves of the approaching big day, and now with the thought of a little mix of her and the love of her life running around their estate was just a bit too much for her to handle.
"N-Naruko-chan!" Hinata cried into the night, shocked as the woman went limp in their embrace. The blonde had promptly face planted into the sand, unconscious.
Yet her last train of thought had followed the lines of thanks for the Uzumaki luck Kaa-chan. Hinata simply watched over her as she observed the vast ocean before them well into the night.
A/N: For those who don't understand the logic behind the pregnancy bit (and because I forgot to slip this note in first time around) there's a little hint at a reverse sexy jutsu... My brain went along the lines of, sperm donor, cuz Uzumaki chakra is just that damn lucky. *iinsert Lenny face* Swagger on my friends.
