I showed up a couple of shots of tequila in thanks to Meredith's great 'pre-gaming' plan. Meredith was convinced that there would be no alcohol at the party and that the only way to survive the boring night with a bunch of doctors that didn't socialise often was with alcohol.
"Meredith" I whispered loudly.
Meredith was talking to the chief of surgery from a hospital in Colorado who was a friend of Dr. Webbers. It seemed he was a boring old fart so calling her away was only helping her.
"What?" Meredith hissed back as she excused herself from the guy she had been talking with for the past few minutes.
"There is alcohol. Now not much of it but I figured if we get in first then we'll be fine. Drink first, mingle later" I muttered as I dragged Meredith over to a little make shift bar in the corner of the large spacious hall that had been hired out especially for the Christmas celebrations.
Meredith and I sat ourselves comfortably at the bar, leaving very little room for anybody else to linger. Over the space of an hour we had three shots of tequila, one margarita like thing that an intern bought us and a glass of wine. Mixing was never sensible but when the alcohol is free who's to abide by the drinking rules?
The party really got popping by 11:30pm. Meredith had parted ways because she was adamant about mingling with important people. By important people she meant people that knew her husband and could tell her stories that made her feel like he was still around, even if it was just for a little bit. I had found Karev lingering the hallway with a glass of scotch in hand.
"The party is through there pal" I informed him. Karev looked from me to the end of the hall then back to me "I'm looking for Arizona. I want meant to meet her here but she is late. Look I have to go, Jo is waiting for me and she'll be pissed if I'm any later" Karev said as he walked past me and headed into the party. I shrugged my shoulders and continued down the hallway displaying my 'tipsy' walk, glass of wine in hand. I was just about to turn the corner when Arizona came jogging around the corner in an obvious rush to meet Karev who had already disappeared. As we collided I found myself covered in red wine, down the front of my black dress, thank god it was black.
"Wholy crap" I screeched.
"Ohhhh Callie, I'm so sorry" Arizona said as she stopped in her tracks her eyes darting around the hallway looking for Karev.
"He's gone. Jo was waiting for him" I explained to her as I placed my glass of wine on a nearby table. "quite literally ran into my ex-wife tonight" I chuckled light heartedly.
"Are you drunk Calliope" Arizona questioned as a slight laugh escaped her lips. Arizona always found drunk Callie quite funny.
"Not drunk. Just a little tipsy" I said signing a little bit with my fingers. "Go, go to the party. I should probably get home anyway" I said as I began swaying down the hallway. Arizona watched me sway down the hallway as she weighed up her options. Party with her work colleagues or babysitting her drunk ex-wife. Arizona so badly wanted to go to the party but she knew she wouldn't forgive herself if anything happened to the mother of her child.
"Wait for me Callie. I'll take you home." Arizona sighed slightly as she ran after me catching up with me. "I've got a pair of scrubs in my car, I'll run and grab them and you wait here, okay?" Callie pushed open the door of the first room she saw, it was a small room that was labelled 'linen closet'. Not the cosiest place for her to wait but it was better than her wondering off like a two-year-old child.
I followed instructions and I scurried into the closet like I was told. I sat on a small table and leant up against the wall. "You're going to come back right? Because I smell like wine and I'm wet and not in a good way Arizona" I chuckled loudly to myself. "You get that?" I asked Arizona hoping she got my joke.
"I've heard you say that joke thousands of times before, I got it babe." Arizona said as she reminded me to stay put and she took off to her car.
"I'm back" Arizona announced as she pushed the door open to the linen closet. For reasons unknown to me I was drying myself with a sheet off one of the shelves. Arizona couldn't help but laugh, I really was the class clown when you got a bit of liquor into me.
"Put these on. I'll wait outside and you just knock if you need me" Arizona explained before exiting the room. Moments after she left I knocked on the door.
"I need you" I chuckled.
Arizona opened the door to see what was going on. I stood scrubs in hand unsure what to do next. "What's wrong?" Arizona asked me.
"I need you to undo my zip. I can't reach it" I muttered.
Arizona took the scrubs from my hands and placed them on the table to my right. "Turn around" she instructed. I obeyed. If this was a weird situation I was too drunk to know.
Arizona paused for a second before she raised her hands to the zip. It may not have been weird for me but this was very much weird for her. Arizona started pulling the zip down revealing my naked back inch by inch. "Is that good?" Arizona asked in a hushed tone. I took my arms out of the dress and held up what I thought was the whole dress but in reality was barely even half of it.
"You look so pretty tonight. What am I saying, you always look pretty. You're a pretty girl. Or a pretty woman, because you're a woman. I know you're a woman because"
"Callie" Arizona interrupted. "You should stop, you're drunk. You don't want to say anything you regret."
"Regret, we can be divorced all we want, doesn't mean I don't think you are sexy as hell."
Arizona didn't know what to say so instead she ignored the comment. "Get changed Callie, I'll take you home."
Before Arizona had the chance to leave Callie dropped the top part of her dress revealing her naked breasts. Seems Callie went free tonight. Arizona stopped in her tracks her eyes locked on her ex-wife's breasts. Arizona had forgotten how beautiful they were. After realising she was staring Arizona went to turn away and walk out. Before she even got the chance Callie had reached forward and grabbed the petite blondes hand.
"Callie you are drunk."
"And you are beautiful" Callie said smoothly before stepping forward, cupping her free hand around Arizona's neck and pressing her lips against the blondes. Arizona was caught off guard initially but it didn't take long before she was returning the kiss. As soon as Arizona returned the kiss the two felt the passion that always seemed to linger between the two. Callie picked up the blonde as she wrapped her legs tightly around Callie's waist. Callie moved Arizona over to the wall and pressed her hard up against the wall their tongues exploring the interior of one another's mouths.
Arizona's hands explored every inch of my body, inside and out and mine hers. We both ended up naked on the floor of a linen cupboard a stray sheet that felt slightly damp draped over our naked bodies. I could hear her panting it was just a little quieter than my own. I wasn't sure what just happened or even how it happened but whatever it was it felt bloody good.
