Chapter One

"Kiara, please stop!" – I screamed in exasperation – "Why Scorp? Are you mad about something?" – She asked innocently – "Yes, stop moving my quill I really need to finish this NOW!"- "Can you stop now? We've been here for the past 2 hours and we still need to go to practice!" – she sighted in frustration –" I'm sorry, but unlike others, I really enjoy having good grades, now ,if you don't mind, you can go and get everything set for the practice, while the rest of team gets there. Besides, as far I am concern YOU are the team captain not me! And I just got in the team because you made me! So now LEAVE!"

I have been working on my essay for the past two hours. I needed to get a good grade on this if I wanted to be considered to become a prefect. I have worked so hard for it that I couldn't spoil it at the last minute. This being said, Kiara stood up, throw a nasty look my way, picked up her belongings and left the library. I was finally able to re- read and review my work.

It took me an additional 20 minutes to have it finished and owl it to our headmistress. It was the final task for the prefect interviews and I wanted it to be part of it desperately. Once the essay was sent, I gathered my belongings and sent them to my dorm. I picked up my broom from the ground and started to run down the corridor to the Quidditch pitch.

As soon as I got there I could see almost all the team gathered on the pitch listening carefully to Kiara's instructions. They had an important game on Saturday, and luckily I was not playing against them. I was definitely not the sports oriented type. But I accepted the offer to join the team for the fact that I enjoyed flying.

Kiara has been my best friend since we were little. We lived in the same street and our parents became friends as soon as we moved in to this new country. I was three when we got to America, and even that I have lived here almost my whole life, all my friends say that my accent has not been lost. I credit that to my mother and father who had lived their whole life in Britain. They came here after the war ended and once all charges against my Grandparents and my father where cleared.

My Father decided that it was better for me to be far away as possible to our horrible past and mistakes. He stated that I "deserved a better, cleaner and problem free life". We moved to America, to a country that didn't knew as much about us and where my parents were able find a job on the local ministry (based on their extended experience).

So we moved to the one of the most popular magical communities on the U.S. and ended up living next to Kiara's family household. Kiara was coming from a local Native American Tribe when we first met. Her family had been in the community a few months more than my family and due to the fact that they were not from here, made my father feel comfortable for us to speak to them.

We used to be home-schooled with Kiara's Mother; she used to be a teacher on their tribe school. They never disclosed much information about where they were coming from and what brought them here; but neither family cared where they were coming from, they just shared the fact that they were not from here.

And that's how my friendship with Kiara started, and we have been inseparable ever since. She's tall, bronze skin, long black hair, high cheek bones and deep hazel eyes. She loved to wear her hair in a side braid and loves wearing feathers on her hair. She is also, an all about quidditch type of girl; she's very determined and straight forward. Those are some of the characteristics that I like the most about her. On the other hand, I was raised to be a Malfoy all the way, but in a much better way of what my father was raised.

When we turned 9, we were invited to join the local magical school of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The day we received the letter, both of our family's celebrated the fact that we have been accepted on the local school. Even though, Two years later, I also received my letter to go to Hogwarts; but I was already on my 2nd year at Ilvermorny; so my parents decided not to send me to Hogwarts.

At school, I have always been dedicated and a full perfectionist. While Kiara, has been a great student but more sports oriented. She started playing Magic Chest when we first got in, and later on our first year, she was accepted to play on the school's quidditch team for her great knowledge and amazing skills.

Our school is the one of the most similar to Hogwarts. We also are sorted in to four different houses and almost all rules apply as it does in Hogwarts. Kiara was sorted into Thunderbird; which it could be consider similar to Gryffindor. Most of Native American children are sorted on that house. Mostly for being part of the Native American community and some of the house traditions is to preserve the knowledge that has been passed upon their children. They are famous for being good Sorcerer's and the ability to read and understand signs (something similar to divination); as well as the power to create thunder.

I, on the other hand, was sorted in to Horned Serpent. It was the similar house to Slytherin, with the difference that my house children were known for the ability to form shift, the power of changing the weather and invisibility. I'm still learning all of those.

I really enjoyed watching Kiara talked about Quidditch and giving instructions to everyone. Her team had almost won the house cup. This was her first year as captain and she was the youngest to be given that title on our school's history. I enjoyed watching them practice and I was usually invited to join in when they had someone missing.

But today was not the day. They finished practice and we all went back together to grab something to eat. It was almost curfew and none of us intended to be call for detention. When we arrived to the main entrance hall, I saw our Headmistress standing by the door. She was wearing her signature purple and gold robe and her hair was tied in a knot at the top. Our headmistress was one of the youngest Headmistress/ mister out of eleventh known Wizardry schools. Her name was Penelope Yazzie; she was tall, bronze skin, remarkable cheek bones, and long almond shape light green eyes. She was looking our way, Kiara, noticed her first, and she looked at my direction with concern – "Did you send your essay?" – "Yes, I did, right on time"- I said, smiling at her – "Are you sure?" – "Absolutely"- " If you did, then why is she looking at us so suspiciously?"- She asked - But by then we have already reached the entrance hall.

-"Good Evening everyone"- she greeted- "Mr. Malfoy and Ms. Locklear, I would like for you to join me in my office. I have something to discuss with you two" – she said with a smile on her face – "Sure, please lead the way" – said Kiara. She then turned around and started to walk on the direction of her office. We enter her office and took a seat on the leather chairs that were located by a coffee table. She motioned us to take our seats, and so we did. She cleared her throat and took a sip from a cup of coffee that was sitting right in front of her.

-"These are great news that I wanted to share with you. We have been invited by Professor Longbottom to participate on a school exchange program that is taking place this year at Hogwarts. We can only choose two students of 5th year to represent us. And you two are our best students from your year. You both have demonstrated great grades throughout the year, as well as a great spirit of determination. And we would like for you two to travel to Hogwarts to represent us" - she took another sip and continue –"We would like to know your thoughts and see if you would like to take part of this great opportunity. This is the first time that our school has been considered for such a young age, and we believe you are the best candidates to go" – she gave us a warm smile and stood up from her chair not losing eye contact with us.

I took a deep breath and do the talking, Kiara was still surprise by the news that she said nothing –"Professor, is a great honor to be consider to be part of this great event. And I must admit I'm genuinely excited for the opportunity; However, I supposed we both have a couple of doubts on regards how this whole thing is going to work. For the fact that we are half way through our 5th year. The house cup finale is been held this upcoming weekend and Kiara has been working really hard to get her team to win the cup. And I have been working hard to get the chance to be considered a valid candidate for the prefect program"

-"I have known you will say that and I have an answer to all of your questions. You will be leaving a week from now, for the mere fact that, as you just pointed out, Ms. Locklear has the house cup finale and that you Mr. Malfoy are going as our School prefect for this trip. You will be departing on Jan. 15th via port key. You will be awaited on the port key location on Britain and then you will be taken to Hogwarts, where professor Longbottom will be providing you with the rest of the instructions. It has all been set up and informed to your parents. You will be given some additional instructions when the times come so you know what to do, as for now, you are dismissed" – she said opening the door to her office, we both stood up and started to walk to the outside hallway.

Kiara was still in shock, when the door was closed, she turned around and looked at me in the eyes –"What the hell did just happened?" – "Well, apparently, we are going to Hogwarts in a week"- I said smiling at her. She smiled back and jump right into my arms with a tight hug around my neck. I hugged her back and she started to scream excitedly into my ear, that I had to ask her to stop.

-"We are going to Hogwarts! Can you believe that? WE are going finally!" – She was super excited, since we were little her dream was to go to Hogwarts. I couldn't be happier for her, but on the other hand was worried and nervous for me. I was the one that should be scared. Because for whom I was, for my last name and for the horrible memories that may still live with them.

I was the one that did not wanted to go to Hogwarts. I was afraid and unsure. My family's past, may be waiting to hunt me down as soon as I get there.
