My body felt like it was on fire.
I screamed. again.
"Rose!" I heard Dimitri yell from besides me. His voice was so in pain. I couldn't die.
Damn those Strigoi.
I grabbed the sheets on the bed and started flinching.
"Alberta, do something!" Dimitri yelled again, "Don't let her die!"
"We're doing everything we can, Belikov," she said, her voice grave, and I knew that I wouldn't make it.
I felt his breath next to me. "Rose! You can't die! Not when you saved me!"
I did save him.
When I felt the nausea start again, I had pushed Dimitri out of the way before he bit him.
But the problem now is that he bit me.
The thought that I saved Dimitri did put a smile in my head.
Dimitri grasped my hand and squeezed it. "You won't die, Rose. I promise," he said, though it looked like he was trying to convince himself rather than me.
My head was spinning in circles.
I could hear the heart rate machine speeding up.
"No! Do something! Anything!" he yelled.
"Oh, no! Rose!" Lissa screamed.
I turned my head to her voice. "L-lissa?"
"Yes, Rose. Oh god! Please dont' leave me!" she begged, coming to my bedside and putting her hands together like she was praying.
I could feel someone on my left side hold my other hand. It was rough and shivering. "R-Rose? Please...don't..."
I realized that it was Adrian.
"I'm s-sorry," I whispered.
"What do you need to be sorry about?" he asked, tears dripping down his cheek.
Then I turned towards Dimitri and smiled weakly at him. I wanted to say something to him before I'm gone.
Lissa and I have been working telepathy, and so far it worked.
Diimitri? I asked, unsure it would work when I'm so weak. But the shocked look on his face told me it had. I'm sorry, for everything. I love you, and I always will.
I turned my head and looked up. I was ready to die.
My heart was racing like crazy, and then it suddenly stopped, and so did I.
But before I did, I could hear everyone shouting at me, and I felt like I had let them down.
My mom was crying, Lissa, was shaking, Adrian was trembling, and-oh Dimitri. Of all of them, Dimitri felt the worst. His face was full of tears, his hands were shaking, and he was yelling my name.
The machine gave one last beat before it stopped all together.
My eyes, my legs, every part of me froze.
"ROSE!" Dimitri screamed, "NO! ALBERTA! FUCKING DO SOMETHING!!!"
But there was nothing she could do to save me.
I had never saw Dimitri look so torn apart.
Good-bye, Dimitri.
First fanfic for Vampire Academy, so it's not very good, although I did do Darkest Powers. The first chapter sucked, but I'll do my best on the second one. :D
