Lady Monozuki: Instead of working on my other stories, I come up with a one-shot. How very typical of me. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
We Belong Together
For as long as he could remember, he had just gone along with what Fuji wanted. Ever since they had played their first match in the rain, there was something that had made them come closer together. Neither of them were able to push off the desire to be near the other nor resist even the simple touches that would make them hot and flustered. At first, he had brushed it off as him coming down with a fever.
However, he never ended up sick and their contact was far too frequent to use that as a viable excuse for long. Next, he decided that it was merely the fact that they did not finish their match that made him feel that way. So he remedied that problem. Their match had to take place over the course of two days. Not because they were evenly matched, but because neither of them wanted the game to end, they decided to end the game after the second day.
He was fine with that. It was best that they didn't have a conclusion to the match at any rate because then the mystery of who was actually better would be lost and ruin any future matches that they might engage in. After that match, he noticed that the feelings were stronger than ever. He tried to ignore them, no longer coming up with excuses, just savoring each moment with Fuji and wishing that he could experience another. It was quite odd to be feeling such things when he held a reputation for being a cocky brat. He could not explain them or justify them, but they drew him closer to Fuji.
"Ryoma," a familiar voice said gently. He knew who it belonged to. His heart went into overdrive and he turned to face his sempai. They had long since forgone the formalities.
"Syuusuke," he greeted. Without thinking, he moved aside, allowing his sempai room to sit next to him. The older teen sat down and chuckled slightly. Normally this would be a cause for concern, but it was different from Fuji's scheming laughs.
"We need to talk, Ryoma."
He turned his head toward Fuji. He noticed that his sempai's eyes weren't closed as usual, but open and serious. Ryoma frowned. What had happened that would cause Fuji to become serious all of the sudden?
"About what?" he asked.
"About us," Syuusuke replied.
"Why?"
"Because I think we're both aware of what's going on between us."
"What's that?" he asked. He figured that Syuusuke was talking about the weird experiences that they had gone through over these past few months, but he had no explanation as to why they were happening.
"Ryoma," Fuji whispered. He noticed the older teen leaning in. He could feel his face burning already and hear every beat of his heart growing louder. Soft lips gently covered his own, bringing the two of them in for a light kiss. He was stunned at first, but his body responded and he kissed back. When they pulled away, he was speechless. It was his first kiss and it felt right. Fuji's face broke out into a smile.
"That settles it," Syuusuke said.
"Settles what?' he asked.
"We belong together."
For once, he didn't have to ask what Syuusuke meant. He knew as well that they were meant to be together. It did not matter how long, as long as they were together.
