It has been a while since Cloud last lived with this many people. The party members insist to stay longer in Seventh Heaven, "for reunion's sake", as Yuffie puts it.
It is not that Cloud does not enjoy the company, but the raucous atmosphere around the group requires some getting used to. For the time being, he is perfectly content to hide out on the rooftop, away from the noises.
"How long do you plan to hole up here? Tifa will worry."
Cloud jumps; he has not noticed Vincent is here. He is not too surprised, though - Vincent often moves in and out of places unnoted. Cloud shakes his head slightly, "She will understand."
"I suppose." Vincent sits down besides him; the metal claw on his left gleaming softly in the night. Cloud suddenly has an urge to touch it, to feel the cool metal under his hand. He sneaks a glance to Vincent's face: swathed under red cloth and black hair, the other's eyes are distant.
Somehow, the sight makes Cloud want to touch Vincent.
Vincent turns to him on the first tap on the claw. His gaze is calm, knowing and welcome, as if he is aware all along of Cloud's thoughts. He takes hold of Cloud's face before Cloud can turn away, the leather of his glove supple and warm, and leans in to kiss Cloud on the lips.
Cloud knows he should be shocked, maybe even affronted, but in reality he accepts the kiss easily. It is encompassing and drowning and supporting all at the same time; Cloud realises this is the first time he truly, completely relaxes since the battle with Sephiroth.
When the kiss is over, Vincent smiles a little, a mere tilt of his pale lips, and returns to his watch on the dusk without a word. Cloud does the same.
The silence feels better when it is shared by two.
