Sora had never thought they would end up in such an arrangement when the three of them went to that fateful summer camp in fifth grade. She might not have wanted to grow up into a traditional feminine figure like her mother, but neither had she considered being in the kind of relationship she was in now. It was not normal, in the eyes of the society.
Not that they minded. They were not the most conservative of people, not by far.
Sora cleared the dining table of her design graphs. The boys would be home soon. She found it somewhat amusing that no matter how much all of them had grown, Taichi and Yamato would always be "boys" to her. Like they were still the inexperienced DigiDestined banding together, or the casual school friends hanging out with one another, sharing memories, concerns and life.
Looking back, Sora could not pinpoint the moment when it had become more for the three of them. Maybe it was when she and Yamato had started "officially" dating, when they first saw things in a different perspective; maybe it was later, after yet another battle struggling for their lives and others', when they realised how much each of them meant to the others; or maybe it only really set off when Taichi got his own apartment and asked Sora to room with him, catalysing changes... Sora did not think she could choose one instant above any other; every little part of their journey was precious, irreplaceable. And they had come a long way.
Yamato let himself in just as Sora was storing away her sheets. He said his greetings while rummaging through the kitchen, getting on with dinner preparations. Koshirou had once commented that it was interesting to note how the lest domestic-looking one of them was actually the most keen on household chores - Taichi was as carefree as he had been a child, and Sora could not always spare the patience for mundane tasks.
The setting sun cast a golden shade onto everything, giving the space a warm and secured feeling. Sora admired the view for a minute before switching the lights on. She walked over to the couch and tuned to the news. Taichi would take a while yet.
There was nothing terribly exciting on the news. Sora stared absently at the reporter while mentally going through the list of things she did not need immediately, that could be moved to Yamato's flat two floors up for storage. Yamato rarely slept there anyway. It was mainly for when he had his band members over and for stocking random objects to keep this flat neat. Mm, she could do the moving tomorrow.
Taichi came back in time to help set the table. He was still in his shirt and tie, but curing the hunger was apparently a higher priority. Yamato let him sneaked a few bites before telling him to get changed; Taichi grumbled until Sora had her hands on her hips and joined in the chiding. Taichi kept up the complaints even as he disappeared behind the bedroom door.
Sora shared a smile with Yamato. She just loved her boys.
