Full Summery:
Ido looked up in shock at the Mirror Dragoneye, her fury raging down upon compassion, this caring, guilt and regret hadn't been felt in years, and the past whispers of his life were all coming back..until he no longer knew what to think. Ido's past was only hinted in the original book, and his dying compassion point refered to as a Sickness. But a sickness must be planted and created, and perhaps, if you looked back at Ido's life, you may no longer hate him as much.
Meh, my first fanfiction story on here that I might leave up. No beta. Feel free to critize nicely on my grammatics, and please ignore the spelling in this A/N. I can't spell to save my life, but I spellchecked the rest of the document.
Look, if I owned the story, I would somehow make it real, kick out Eona, and make MYSELF a Dragoneye, cause I love dragons.
Obviously, then, I don't own it. Review or don't. (actually, I do care, so review anyways or face my wrath! :) )
Prologue
A muffled yelp filled the house, followed by slightly sniffling that was quickly stifled at another Roar.
"I Will NEVER acknowledge you as my son if you shame me in front of the entire royal family!" snarled a deep, menacing voice.
"Yes father" another sniffle, the voice was young and high pitched, and a small black haired boy that was about the age of five, hunched in a corner away from his fuming father.
"You brat! You good for nothing brat! Acting like you were…were a wild animal, embarrassing me in front of the emperor himself! You shame me, and MY honor!"
A taller man's eyes were narrowed in a cresting fury, eyes dancing with the flames of vicious backlash as he hit his son with the horsewhip again and again.
Muffled cries filled the house, the boy too afraid to completely give out and scream his terror.
Nights like these were repeatable, sometimes for nothing, simply the father wishing the son to know who was in charge, and the intensity of the beatings varied. The boy grew to expect them, sometimes they were on how love and compassion were weaknesses, on how Ido, he, the son, was such a shame to the family, and how if he never tried hard enough, he would never be a Dragoneye.
That's all his father seemed to care about, really.
That was all his father ever cared about, thought Ido dimly as the horsewhip came down with a great crack, and he bit back a moan.
Screaming was useless, no one dared to help him anyways.
Because no one ever listened.
