The stars glittered majestically in the night sky. I'd never seen so many before. Living in the city for ten years, it was hard to see more than a handful at a time.

Beneath the starry sky, almost like a mirror image, were the lights of Ukiyoe Town.

I moved to this town on my father's instruction. He wanted me to gather information about the wild yokai sightings in the area. You see my father works as a video game developer for a well-known gore/horror game company in Tokyo. And since he can't bear riding on ANY vehicle because of his motion sickness, he uses me as his eyes to research on new concepts that he might be able to use on his projects.

You can say that I'm practically doing all the dirty works for him. But hey, the old man knows how to pay. Not to mention he is still the one who spends for my education.

I sighed. Tomorrow I'll be going to this town's local high school. I found a web page forum made by a group of students there claiming that there are yokai residing in the school's old school building. I have to confirm that... Any way, I think need some good night sleep for tomorrow.

My cell started vibrating as I walked to school. I glanced down at it with surprise.

It was a text message from my old man.

'hi son~! my cold has gotten better. ^w^- i bet life hasn't been the same w/o me, right? ^_^; i'll be back to work starting the day after, so i'll see you soon.

P.S. This game will definitely be a hit! d(3)b -3'

I rolled my eyes. Sometimes it's hard to believe that he's a fan of horror, splatter and violence...

I was early, so I entered the foreign building and headed for the lockers. I started changing my shoes when I heard someone enter and a girl shouting,

"Maaasteeerr! Where are you? Mou~ where is he...?"

I ignored the voice. 'Who the hell shouts obnoxiously this early in the morning?' I thought.

I dropped the white school shoes on the floor with a thud. "Eh? Master is that you? Mou~ what are you thinking? Running away like that..." the girl pouted. The girl ran towards my locker then stopped on her tracks. I didn't like the look she was giving me-like she saw a ghost or something. Her eyes were wide open, fear evident in her ultramarine orbs. I raised a brow at her.

"What?" I asked with an indifferent face. That seem to bring her back from her la la land and she stared at me with an excrutinating gaze. Then the look of fear changed to curiosity.

"You're... not him... are you?" she seemed hesitant for a while, staring at my white spiky hair then looking straight into my crimson eyes. I was quite surprised when she glared at me with her golden orbs. 'WAIT. Golden? Wasn't it a deep shade of blue just now? How-?'

"What's your name, human?" she demanded with a serious tone.

"Eh? I'm Nura-"

"Ah! Good morning Tsurara-chan!" a black haired girl with squinty eyes greeted the weird girl who I guessed was Tsurara. Tsurara looked back at the girl, distracted. I took this as an opportunity to escape the eccentric girl.

"Natsumi-chan, good morning to you, too~!" I heard her say with a cheery tone. When she looked back, no one was there anymore.

To be continued...?
