She'd asked him for help. Annie Edison had asked Abed Nadir for help on her literary film project.
As he glanced at her from across the cafeteria, Abed hoped she didn't know about his crush on her. He'd been extra careful not to tell anyone, even his best friend, Troy.
Abed looked down at his plate, wondering what movie he would choose. Would she like something sad, or something loud and full of action? Or maybe something sweet, a fluffy kind of movie? He couldn't see what kind of movie she needed. And that was what worried him the most.
He'd chosen Forrest Gump, and so far, it proved to be a wise decision.
It was an hour into the movie, and Annie was cuddled close to him on the couch. She giggled and it sounded like music. He could smell her hair, but he wasn't sure if that was creepy or not, so he didn't comment.
Annie suddenly reached over and held his hand.
"Thanks for picking such a great movie, Abed. I knew I could count on you."
She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. He smiled at her and blushed; it was his first kiss.
The movie was over, and Annie was asleep with her head on Abed's shoulder. His arm was around her, which surprised him; he never thought he'd have the courage to do that.
He slowly stood up from the couch, cracking his bones in the sleepy silence of his dorm room. Annie stirred on the couch, so he got his favorite comforter and covered her up. With a sudden burst of confidence, he leaned down and gave her a small kiss on the forehead. She smiled softly in her sleep.
Abed made a clicking sound as he took a mental picture.
