A/N: I always think of Jack Frost when I hear the song Once Upon A December.
I don't own this song
(Before he was a Guardian)
"Dancing bears, painted wings
Things I almost remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December"
"Who am I?"
"Why am I here?'
These are two questions Jack can't answer.
The Man in the Moon only told him one thing. "You're Jack Frost."
"Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory"
300 years is a long time.
A long time to be a lost spirit.
A long time to not know anything about yourself.
Jack spent that time trying to remember something, anything, about himself.
He knew there was more to know than just his name.
"Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart used to know
Once upon a December"
The only things Jack could remember were the first things he knew.
It was cold and it was dark. And he was scared.
And the moon being so big and bright that it chased the darkness away.
"Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory"
(After becoming a Guardian)
My name is Jack Frost.
I died saving my sister and was chosen by the Man in the Moon to be a Guardian.
I am the Guardian of fun.
It took a while, but I figured it out.
"Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart used to know"
Jack finally had the answers to his questions.
He knew who he was and why he was chosen.
His memories came back slowly, and soon he knew everything he ever wanted to learn.
"Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December"
Jack had a family who loved him.
He finally had a home.
He had lots of believers.
And for the first time in 300 years, he was happy.
