"Fire Dragon Roar!" Is the first thing he heard when he stepped out of the portal. He sees a massive river of fire heading towards him, so in defense he puts up a ward to protect himself although a magic circle appears first with the restoration symbol in the center of it before the spell takes effect 'that's new' he thought as he turns his head the direction of the flames
4 days ago-We come to a land of snow and dragons, Skyrim. In this land there are many things that may just want you dead be it, draugr, animals, bandits and if they deem it necessary the Black-Briars. Even though there are many more who would love to either kill or rob you, we need to hurt up and start the story.
Over in castle Volkihar is a special lab with an array of books and magical ingredients, although one thing stands out more than the rest. A giant glowing purple vortex with a staircase leading down into it. That, would be the portal to the Soulcairn, a desolate wasteland and plain of oblivion where many souls dwell. I could go into a detailed description of the Soulcairn but I'm gonna keep it simple. If you know what a soul gem is, once the gem has been used, the soul that was in the gem gets sent there. The Ideal Masters being the rulers of the Soulcairn, call upon the lost souls there to feed on there essence. Forever. Now you may just be wondering "why is this important?", we'll get to that very soon, don't worry. Now to the actual story.
"Serana!" A masculine voice sounded through the bloodied halls of castle Volkihar, bouncing off the walls and creating an echo. The dead bodies of vampires were everywhere. With their blood splattered on the walls and tables.
"What is it!" She sounded back with her voice echoing through the castle walls like the one before hers
A shadow appears in end of the hall but no actual figure is seen. Just the shadow in the light. The shadow dawned on a full helmet and what seemed to be a form of brigandine covering its body "I'm gonna go through your library if that's fine?!"
"Be my guest!" Serana shouted back "and if you see anything you like take it. I don't have a use for it!"
"Thank you!" The armored shadow ended only for another voice to pop up
"Quiet down, both of you! Your making my ears ring." A dark skinned man yelled in irritation
"Well why are you yelling?" Serana teased at him
"Just stop the shouting. My ears are gonna bleed." He told the two of them while rubbing both of his temples
"Did someone say shouting?" The same voice from the hall said "FUS RO DAH!" He shouted causing the castle to rumble and shake
"Don't do that inside or you could cause the entire building to collapse!" The dark skinned man shouted towards the man
"Come on Isran, I'm just messing around." Getting a better look at him as he was coming around the corner, he wore a full steel helmet with a silver like tint to it and heavily padded red brigandine like armor with boots and gloves to match.
"I'm with Isran on this one. This castle is thousands of years old and hasn't exactly had the best maintenance over time." Anyone could tell Serana was nervous of the ceiling above her, readying to fall on top of her just by the look on her face.
"Now your teaming against me? How cruel." He was upset a slight bit yet took it in stride
"I guess I am." She said with a light chuckle "anyway, are you done in the library?"
"Almost. I'm trying to find the spell books." The man said
"I might know where they are, unless the fighting knocked a few off the shelves." Serana said walking over to him
"Why do you want to find these things spell books? It's kinda weird." Isran said to him as he just looked through one of the books "Hello? Hey, nirn to Fenrir, are you home?" Isran walked up to him, knocking on his helmet sending ringing through his ears
"Ahh! What is it Isran?" The newly named Fenrir asked in a startled tone looking up to Isran while holding the book to his side
"What are reading?" Isran looked at the cover of the book in confusion as
"A book. I can't read any of the letters though so I guess you could just say I'm looking through it" Fenrir said
"Let me see" Serana grabs the book from his hands, flipping through the pages of the book trying to make heads and tails of what the letters, symbols or whatever they were in the book said "what is this?"
"I don't know? It was in your library so you should know." Fenrir said in annoyance
"Well there are some things in this castle that are older than my parents so sorry if I don't know." With the castle being thousands of years old who knows what was originally here
"I'll take it Urag, the librarian in the colleges Arcanaeum. He might be able to translate it"
"He sounds like an orc?" Serana stated
"He is. I was taken by surprise when I saw an orc working at the the College of Winterhold. And the librarian no less" Fenrir said laughing "Anyway, did you find any spelltomes or not?" He asked Serana
"Yeah. Five actually." She told him giving him the books she found
"Thank you. I'm off to the college. Going to tyr and get this translated"
3 hours later, College of Winterhold, Arcanaeum-
"Hmm, interesting? How did you find this again?" Urag asked Fenrir
"I was visiting a friend and we found this in her fathers library" Fenrir said with sweat dripping from his concealed forehead as he remembered the slaughter of the vampire clan
3 hours 20 minutes ago-
"This place is massive."
"No kidding"
"We haven't even gotten inside yet"
"Hey friend, you finally showed up. What took so long?" Durak asked Fenrir
"Stuff, lots of it. Let's hurry up and get this over with" he responded
They all charged across the bridge to the castle. Gargoyles erupting from their stone shells, attacking ferociously while the two vampiric mages stand back draining the life out of them from a distance. No matter how tough it was the gargoyles were dispatched and soon after the two vampires. Busting into the castle the Dawnguard enters the main hall, with Isran smashing one vampires head in while a small wood elf member sticks a crossbow bolt in between the eyes of another. We look to the armory to see Gunmar, a male nord with brown hair fighting off two vampires at once, cutting the head off of one and turning around only to get stabbed in his exposed arm by the other vampire. He then sends his foot straight to the vampires chest pulling the knife out and stomping the vampires face in with his steel boot.
"Is that it? Did we get all of them?"
"I think so"
"Not all of them" Fenrir said with a smile under his helmet "there's still one left" he then walks up the stairs leading to the shrine of Molag-Bal, pushing the door open to see lord Harkon waiting for him
"It appears I have you to thank for turning my daughter against me. I knew it was only a matter of time before she'd return with hatred in her heart." Harkon said to Fenrir
"Actually I didn't have to do much. In fact I'd say I didn't have to do anything" Fenrir had high intentions of mocking the ancient vampire lord, which had seemed to work "Now are or we going to fight or?"
"Not yet. I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. Give me the Bow of Auriel, and I'll let you live" Harkon knew bartering with Fenrir was risky, but he still doubted the nords intelligence.
"Nah, I think I'm good. Ya see, I've grown a bit attached to this thing and I'm not gonna give it up just yet" Fenrir got in a ready position with a greater ward in his left hand and the rune axe in the other
"Fine then. I'll just take it off your dead body!" The talking stopped as the fighting ensued, the summoning of skeletons from piles of bone caused the fight to last longer than he hoped. Yet it all ended. As Harkon lays dead in the form of crimson ash, it all ended. It's over
Present time-
"You have an interesting friend because there is a chance that I may not be able to translate this book. Come back in two days and hopefully I've made progress." Urag said as he just stared at the runes in the book
Fenrir simply nodded his head and left, didn't even say a word
2 days later-
"Your back." Urag said with a happy yet depressed tone
"That I am. Make any progress yet?" Fenrir had high hopes of good news. Instead he got the opposite.
"Actually no. None at all. I honestly don't think the college has the recourses to help you out on this one" Urag was very disappointed in the fact that he couldn't translate the runes. He believed in his ability and resources to much but in the end, he got nothing. "maybe if I knew of its origins I would be able to start somewhere but, I'm assuming since you didn't tell me who wrote it or where it was written you don't know either do you?" Urag hoped for a positive answer, hell. Even a maybe would do.
"No I don't sadly, sorry for wasting your time." He said
"Don't worry about it, I actually enjoyed it a bit even though no progress was made." Urag looked up at Fenrir in hopes he would find a translator who could read the runes
"Thanks" was all Urag got out of him before he left
'Well time to weigh out my options. There was Clavivus-Vile, but... with the Daedric prince of trickery and wishes I don't see that going anywhere other than a bad business deal. And all's he can give me is a lead, no translation' He thought to himself 'What about Hermaeus? No. No no no no no! I'd finally be falling into his trap. Apochrypha has the knowledge and definitely the translation, but I'm not. I repeat, am NOT! Going to fall for his trap. Miraak may have, but I won't' He continues to think 'Seranas mother! She might know. She's older than her and probably knows where this damn thing came from' he thought to himself as he looks at the book.
2 hours 50 minutes later, Haafingar-
A guard is currently patrolling the border of the hold until he sees Fenrir cross the border and he attempts to get Fenrirs attention "Hey!" Fenrir turns around "I think I know you?"
"Listen, it's probably a misunderstanding, I've done nothing wrong" Fenrir tried to defend himself, but in the end it didn't work
"I remember you know, you're the one who shot an arrow into a guards arm." If the guards helmet was off you could see the anger in his face
'Oh shit I actually remember that. Blindfolded trick shots are a bad idea' he thinks to himself 'and I have no money on me so I'll have to serve time' (I actually did that. I put a pillow case on my head, and did a 360 no scope and accidentally shot a guard with it, yes it was in the arm, it was that very guard who arrested me but it was in Markarth, not Solitude)
"You're coming with me or paying a fine" the guard pointed his sword towards Fenrirs throat
"I submit. Take me to jail"
Castle Dour dungeon, Solitude-
We finally get to see our hero in his full glory. A fairly tall nord with chestnut brown hair and dark blue eyes. He had a decent amount of muscle to. The most noticeable thing would be the scars on his chest along with the runic tattoos all over his back and arms.
"I'm not waiting around for this" Fenrir got up and looked for escape path to use and free himself with "the wall seems hollow here" he gave it a push and the mortar came crumbling down exposing a passage way. He walked through the passage way and noticed through a hole in the wall the warden wasn't present. After making his way to the wardens desk he found a lockpick on the desk for whatever reason (you know just as well as I do that you can find shit in places where it normally wouldn't be in Skyrim) he picked the lock of the chest that was holding his stuff and got it all back. Going back through the pathway he found the bottom of a manhole and went through it. He was back in the city and ready to go... until a guard saw him and he ran as fast as he could.
Next day, Castle Volkihar, Valericas lab-
Fenrir walks around the lab going through Valericas old books and such "nope nothing." He sighed "guess I'll have to go... in there" he walks through the purple vortex leading to the Soulcairn
Soulcairn, Durnehviirs graveyard-
As we see him walk to the doors as familiar face is seen right outside them "Nice to see you again Qahnaarin"
"Yes you to Durnehviir" he replied turning around to speak with him
"What brings you back here?"
'Oh wait him!' Fenrir thinks to himself "Durnehviir, do you think you could translate this?" Fenrir asks in high hopes as he holds the book to Durnehviirs face
"I have three questions Dovahkiin."
"And they are?"
"One. Why did you not just summon me to your world and ask? Two. What are you trying to translate? Three. Why not ask Mora?"
"One, the thought never crossed my mind. Two, some text I haven't seen before. It's new to me and everyone I asked, so I came here to find Valerica but decided you're much, much older and most importantly have more knowledge than she does. Last but not least, three, being I don't want to end up like Miraak"
Miraak's name brings up memories in Durnehviirs mind. They aren't exactly pleasant ones, but memories none the less. 'So that's what happened to him' Durnehviir thinks to himself "I would be able to help you could I see the scripture on the page" He tells Fenrir
"Are you blind or something?" Fenrir jokes around a bit with the ancient dragon
"No it is the distance between my nose and eyes. Why do you think the dragons wrote in big letters?" He responded with a serious tone. That's how Fenrir learns Durnehviir has no sense of humor.
"Good point" It was at that moment that Fenrir remembered when Brelyna turned him into a cow, then a horse, then a dog 'If she can turn me into a cow, maybe I can turn him into a human?' Fenrir knew it was an accident, but her accident helped him think of trying to do it on purpose. He tried remembering what she did. "Bingo! Got it" he remembered what she did and proceeded to do it himself.
"What are you doing" the rotting dragon asked
Fenrir released the spell and it actually worked. It was actually a fluke, he only remembered half of what Brelyna did to him but apparently it was enough. He just winged the rest. "Now read" Fenrir gave the book to Durnehviir who now took on the form of a decrepit old man wearing a long tattered hooded green robe with extremely gray hair and a beard reaching down to his mid-chest
7 hours later-
"Most of this I cannot read but I recognize some of it" Durnehviir told Fenrir "Why do you want this translated so badly?"
"Because I don't recognize the language, it's a mystery to me. How much of the language can you read though?" Fenrir at least wanted to know if some progress was made
"Less than 5%" Durnehviir said bluntly "now can you change me back to normal?"
"Right. See, when my friend did to me it only took a few minutes, so I guess it should be the same with you" Fenrir just walked away and waved. "Bye now"
As he was walking through the cairn he was thinking about the 5 spells Serana had given him 'I should thank her for these'. There was a problem though. The staircase wasn't visible from his location "Did I go in the wrong direction?" He asked himself. He wanders around for another hour or two and still no staircase insight. "Guess that thank you is gonna have to wait"
Back with Durnehviir-
"You wish for me to search for the stairs? Alright then" Thankfully he did eventually return to his form as a dragon, even though it took longer. Maybe it was because he put to much magic into the spell, doesn't matter. He just needs to find the staircase out. In the meantime he learns about the spells Serana had handed him. One mentioned pocket dimensions and summoning items. The last chapter sort of mentioned bound weapons but a different kind. He practiced and focused and ended up summoning Volendrung from his house in Whiterun. The book mentioned it was easier, quicker and much less taxing on his magic if summoned from his pocket dimensions so he put Volendrung there along with all of his other weapons and armor. From Dawnbreaker to the Bloodskal Blade, and from Haknir Deathbrands armor to his Daedric Gear. It was all in there. With the Alteration book done he read the other 4, nothing that impressive but the one in restoration was useful. The spell was called Divine Ward which had the capability of blocking both physical and magical attacks like spell breaker, only differences being it uses tons magicka and can block city buster attacks
"Qahnaarin!" He voice shouts from the sky
"Yes?" Fenrir looked up to see Durnehviir about to land
"I found no staircase to get you out"
"You're messing with me right?" A nervous look appeared on his face
"I am afraid not"
"Make that three useful spells" he said under his breath. Fenrir was happy he learned the spells then and there or he'd be stuck in the cairn forever with no lead on getting out
"Hmm?" Durnehviir heard him say something but he didn't know what
"So essentially, my friend Serana gave me 5 spelltomes" he started to explain "one in Alteration, Destruction, Restoration, Conjuration, and This" he pulls out a book with an odd cover
"Mysticism" Durnehviir tells him "a very mysterious school which very little is known about"
"Interesting, yet one thing I found out it is connected to the same book I was trying to translate. While reading over it, I saw the same book drawn in this one. The same runic triangle on the cover and symbols on the back of it. "I checked five times" Fenrir says "Looks like I'm going to have to go to Valerica for the translations, if she even has them. You think you could give me a ride?"
"Do I look like a form of travel to you Qahnaarin?"
"Can you or can you not?"
"Fine. Get on"
Durnehviirs graveyard-
"Valerica nice to see you. How've you been holding up? Hey I need help translating this, can you help?" He just tosses the book to her
"What? Why?" She asked
"Because I'm stuck in here. The staircase back disappeared and by translating this you could help me get back out."
"Okay then" she said immediately said getting to work on the translations. Finishing at least in 5 hours max. "Done"
"Thank you. I was honestly taking a shot in the dark in hoping you could translate this thing." Fenrir rubbed the back of his head in relief
"What does my daughter see in you, and course I can, it's my book."
"What was it written in anyway?"
"Dwemer text"
"That's kinda interesting. Anyway thank you for the help" Fenrir then learned the spell and casted it at the ground. It was a purple and green circle that had the oblivion symbol in the middle of it. "You coming or not?"
"As long as Harkon lives I will stay here."
"About that. He's dead"
"Really? I guess I'll go after all. Just let me get my things"
10 minutes later-
"I'm ready!" Valerica called
"Alright then. Let's go" Fenrir said as he finished the spell. Even though they left the Soulcairn, they weren't home anymore
Hargeon, Fiore
Natsu is currently in his fight with Bora, a wizard who was kicked out of a wizards guild a few years ago. As Natsu charges up his fire dragons roar a giant purple and green circle appears in front of him and Bora "What trick are you gonna do this time?"
"I'm not doing anything. This circle isn't my doing" Bora says
"I don't care anymore. Eat this creep! Fire dragon roar!" Natsushouts as a torrent of flames is sent towards his opponent. But, none of the flames hit his target.
"Watch were your shooting those flames, mage or I will take your head off!" Natsu heard a voice shout out.
"Who the hell are you?!" Natsu shouts at the mysterious figure. Lucy and happy are just standing there in wonder. He wasn't there before? Where did he come from? Were only a few thoughts going through their heads
"Who am I?" He said "I'll be your executioner if you try to burn me with those flames again" meanwhile Bora is taking advantage of the opportunity to escape while Natsu and Fenrir stars each other down, successfully doing so in the process.
"Calm down Fenrir you're only making the situation worse" Another voice is heard behind him
"I don't care. Throw flames at me, and I retaliate. Even though right now I'm pending" Fenrir replied
"If you wanna dance then let's dance" Natsu said with vigor in his voice
"Valerica I'm fighting."
"Fine. But if you die, it's your fault"
"I know"
A/N. If you have read this far I'd like to thank you for even looking at this fanfic. If the chapter felt a bit bland at the end it was because I was getting bored of the rest and rushed a lot of it. I still did my best to make it decent and not contradict anything else said in the chapter. If it did, just remember I rushed it towards the end. I don't know if I'll rush anything in the future, but I hope I don't.
Thank you for reading and remember. Since this is my first fanfic I need reviews. Gotta make every chapter better than the last.
(I'd like to thank an anonymous guest for giving me advice on my writing style, and I think I improved the chapter a bit. Currently I am working on the second chapter right now for those of you following this story. And before I go, if you're reading this you know who you are. I'm not that young and yes I admit I do write like I am. Thanks for the help and I hope to get more of it in the future, I think you helped me improve the chapter in my opinion but hey, to each their own)
