A/N: I am shocked at the lack of Flying Witch fanfics, so I decided to correct this error by writing my own! I was originally planning on posting this on the day of the Full Moon, but there isn't going to be one for this month so the New Moon will have to do. Enjoy!

"Merow."

Makoto looked up from her herb garden and turned to her familiar, Chito.

"Predictable? What do you mean Chito-san?"

"Mrow," the cat responded with a twitch of her tail.

"Well, of course I'm picking plants for Nao-san. She looked like she was in so much pain at school today. And she was so pale that even her lips were turning white!"

"Arh mrow."

"Of course I remember the other herbs I gave to her, silly. I'm not that absent minded."

The cat gave her witch a look that would have been described as pointed even without the added knowledge of the cat's great intelligence.

"And besides, I offer all of my herbs and vegetables to all of my friends, so why is it so strange when I give them to Nao-san?"

Chito sighed and closed her eyes. Once again Makoto was being utterly clueless.

"Don't ignore me, Chito-san. You didn't answer my question!"

"And that's why I decided to give you these!" Makoto exclaimed holding up the bag full of ginger for emphasis.

Ishiwatari Nao, who was already in her pajamas despite it not even being six in the evening, blinked and took the bag with a mixture of appreciation and confusion that was becoming rather common whenever Makoto came over. While none of her gifts had been as extreme as the mandrake incident (thank gods) the girl was still a bit uncertain at what to expect whenever Makoto visited. It wasn't because she disliked the witch's company, but rather because she was unused to so much attention being directed towards her, especially by someone who had only known her for a few months. Plus the amount of herbs and vegetables she had received in that short amount of time was becoming a bit dizzying.

"Thank you, Makoto. But, you didn't have to do all this. It must have been a lot of work."

"Don't worry, it did not take up much time. Besides," Makoto leaned forward and lowered her voice, "I know what it's like to deal with bad cramps."

Nao flushed with embarrassment. The witch really had to work on her subtlety.

"Right…"

"Besides, I don't mind giving you spare herbs or veggies at all. After all, I really like you, Nao-san."

Makoto did not notice the prolonged silence as she gleefully explained the correct dosage and preparation of ginger to her stunned friend.

Later that evening, at precisely midnight, the Kuramoto household was abruptly interrupted from their slumbers by a small, but alarming, shriek. While the majority of the residents assumed it was simply assumed it was an outdoor cat, and rolled back to sleep, two beings were still wide awake. One of these was the cause of the noise and the other was her, very disgruntled, cat familiar.

"Did-? Did I actually-? Chito-san did I-?"

Chito gave out a long-suffering sigh and meowed to confirm her witch's question.

"What!?"

"Merow," grumbled Chito, resting her head back onto the pillow and ignoring the confused yammering above her. She loved her witch, but she was really clueless.
