Written for Caesar's Palace Shipping Week. Prompt: Flamingo

Light/Misa and slight Misa/L. But intended to be Misa/L.

This was awful.

This was dumb and so, so, so stupid

This was going to be Misa-Misa's day with her perfect boyfriend until - she shot the scraggly young man a death glare over her steaming latte - Mister Stupid Amazing Detective tagged along chained on her boyfriend's wrist.

What kind of super smart guy would chain himself to such a perfect boy like Light-kun? She huffed, peering over the table at Ryuuzaki, munching on a cheesecake absently and Light-kun in his white crisp shirt, his brown hair falling out of it's perfect style. How cute!

She sighed, her cheeks going slightly pink. However... Misa-Misa certainly did see the benefits to being chained to Light-kun. Misa giggled, "Hey, Light-kun!'

"Hmm?"

She posed for him and ignored Ryuuzaki's curious gaze, "How do you like my new shirt, Light-kun?"

It was pink (Misa's favorite colour!) and rather low-cut, but not enough that Misa-Misa would attract unwanted attention, Misa was a very loyal girlfriend after all.

"It's...it's a..." Misa frowned in thought. What was the bird she had on her shirt? It was a very cute one but the name...

Light sighed, "It's a flamingo, Misa. And it looks fine on you." He returned to reading his newspaper with more interest than he had shown her all week. Her cheeks burned a little with embarrasment at being so abruptly ignored, but she scowled down at her latte. Was it not enough?

Messy raven hair entered her vision and she yelped in surprise. L had leaned over the table and was staring at her shirt. Or more precisely, the pink bird over her stomach.

She blinked. Most guys would look above at her chest.

Misa resisted the urge to dump her latte on the detective. Was he implying that a bird was more interesting than her chest? The utter nerve.

She opened her mouth-

"I think...Misa-san looks good wearing this shirt." L said blandly, "Flamingoes are nice animals."

She closed her mouth.

"Oh..."

Light-kun was still reading his newspaper.

Ryuuzaki had retreated to his chair.

She stared at the table, slowly coming to a decision. With the usual spark belonging to Misa-Misa, she bounced up from her chair and leaned over the table to press a kiss to Ryuuzaki's cheek. "You don't have a very good fashion sense, Ryuuzaki." She wrinkled her nose, "But you are sweet."

Ryuuzaki stared at her, mouth agape, "Misa-san...I could really fall for you, you know."

Misa giggled, "Oh, Ryuuzaki!"

She could hear the softest snort behind her from Light-kun, "Don't do that to yourself." And the rustle of the newspaper being turned to the next page.

Misa-Misa grinned at Light-kun and threw her arms around him, "But I've fallen for Light-kun, Ryuuzaki!"

"Misa!" Light protested and pushed her away gently. "After I read the newspaper, okay?"

"M'kay!" She bounced back to her seat. Her smile was happy, but her heart was heavy.

They fell back into their normal quiet pattern and Misa-Misa stared at them, once again, from over her now-cold latte.

Light-kun and Ryuuzaki chained together.

Quiet Light-kun

Shy Ryuuzaki.

She sighed.

Sometimes Misa-Misa wondered if she should've fallen for Ryuuzaki-kun instead.
